What Big Ten team was most impressive this weekend?

What Big Ten team was least impressive this weekend?

Maryland and Purdue were probably the most impressive based on expectations.

Illinois and Nebraska were least impressive.

Purdue and Rutgers were only losers right? In both cases heavy underdogs and made the ranked teams sweat. Good sign for the conference.

Reactions: SWIowahawks
1. Ohio St. - Everything you need to win it all. DL was esp impressive. You can throw on them a bit though.
2. Penn St - Competition was weak, but they were pretty good.
3. Michigan - A good QB away from being a top 5 team, very impressive on defense and they were able to run it some on a solid Fla defense.
4. Wisky - Slow start, hell of a finish.
5. Iowa - What I would hope our defense would look like. In great position, take the right angles, just extremely solid. Offense isn't anything special.
6. Northwestern - Nevada gave them a tough game, tough prep with the coaching changes but NW figured it out in the 2H.
7. Maryland - Hell of a road win. Not sure what Piggy's status is, but he was quite impressive. A TMart type player, which is much better than what MD has been playing at QB recently.
8. Nebraska - pretty good on offense, though the 4th qtr was pretty bad. Defense was just awful.
9. Indiana - I was impressed with their offense. Defense was worse than I expected, but they'll do better against lesser skill guys than what OSU had.
10. Mich St - QB play looked better than I expected. Bowling Green isn't any good though, so hard to learn much.
11. Purdue - Hung in there against LVille.
12. Minnesota - didn't impress me against a pretty bad Buffalo team
13. Rutgers - Decent showing for them, offense much better with Bolin at QB and Jerry Kill calling the shots. They seem to start off playing ok Defense and then wear down later in the season.
14. Illinois - Lucky to beat Ball St. Outgained by like 150 yds.

I thought they all looked pretty good in spots. The Purdue game shouldn't have been that close. I was impressed with Indiana. Looks to me like the bottom tier is closing the gap

  1. Ohio State (1-0) - open with a B1G win at Indiana. This is a team that wins plenty of B1G games, only two losses in 3+ years of B1G East/West.
  2. Michigan - Florida is a SEC East program and was in Top 25.
  3. Penn State - Akron didn't score, and Michigan at Penn State isn't early in 2017.
  4. Wisconsin - they often win ugly in Madison against Non-Power 5 programs, but they win.
  5. Northwestern - they are a work in progress, but they beat both Iowa and Michigan State last time they meet each program.
  6. Michigan State - Dantonio wants to call 2017 a reboot, after 2016 and 1-8 in B1G.
  7. Iowa - they won 24-3 against Wyoming. Did I hear it was first time, since 2003 that Cowboys failed to score a TD?
  8. Indiana (0-1) - the Hoosiers played well for nearly 3 quarters against Ohio.
  9. Nebraska - the 3-4 defense will take time for Mike Riley's team.
  10. Maryland - let's remember who the Terrapins beat in Austin.
  11. Purdue - this is a program improving in Year 1 under Jeff Brohm.
  12. Minnesota - P.J. Flick won first one over Buffalo, with road trip to 1-1 Oregon State, who didn't look good in win over Portland State.
  13. Ilinois - Long season for Lovie Smith, but nice win over Ball State.
  14. Rutgers - they looked good against Washington in opening season loss.
