Not canceled yet, but practice with pads delayed.
Good move. Its widely known that pads increase the risk of catching covid while helmets have no effect on the spread. Not canceled yet, but practice with pads delayed.
I have a feeling that is eventually the way this is going to end. I do hope the BIG10 leaves options open for individual schools to be able to create and make their own schedule if they choose and are able to.
Football and everything else will be perfectly safe after NovThis is inevitable whether they do it now or two weeks from now. Just hoping we'll get football in the spring but even then I doubt it. Best hope is fall 2021 or 2022 imo.
why do you say never? The violins have started playing on the titanic. College football as we know it will never return.
why do you say never?
It is important to place blame in the appropriate place. The Czech republic mandated masks on March 23rd. They had 300 deaths, and are fully open in August. Southeast Asia has had compliant mask wearing since the beginning of the outbreak and are fully open in August. The pure science says that mask wearing will not completely control cases but will turn symptomatic cases into nearly 100% asymptomatic cases. Study after study has shown that mask wearing takes asymptomatic occurance from 35-40% all the way above 85%. America has 500 deaths per 1 million people whereas mask compliant nations has deaths rates that are 50x lower.Damm the CCP for deliberately declaring this is nothing to worry about to the rest of the world, while at the same time, looking and welding people in their homes.
are you saying you dont expect the fb players to be diligent enough with masks and social distancing to avoid the same outcome of the general student population? i personally think there will be some positives on the teams but i think they can keep it somewhat controlled if the players are on board with basically giving up their social lives for a semesterThere's no chance of completing a fall season. Millions of college kids are about to move back to college campuses and live in crowded dorms. College kids are not going to stay alone by themselves, they are going to socialize and party. The virus will spread like crazy.
The best hope is for a spring season, and hope that there is an effective treatment by then.
Ryan Day is laughing at that. Not canceled yet, but practice with pads delayed.
#1: We have to remember that the Italian outbreak in Lombardy was fed by a single open air soccer game with 40k people, no masks. And this particular occurrence was highly pathogenic(deadly).Good move. Its widely known that pads increase the risk of catching covid while helmets have no effect on the spread.

#2: Open air, maskless spread, can be more pathogenic than we perceive.
#3. Half of a football team falls into a risk group due to weight and cardiovascular stresses. This is unique to football as a sport because many players are designed by S&C programs to be larger than their natural form.
#4: It would be possible if every player wore a visor on the field and masks on the sideline and there were no fans in the stadium. But..players would need to be in a bubble like the NBA.
#5. This is still a community issue because players will come in contact with people outside the program, testing isn't accurate or is too slow. Logically players will get it from sex or the dorms but you can't just pre-kill people because they might make a bad decision and get themselves killed anyway.
I have a very high risk job, and I have to do it so I want football but...this is a community(U.S) failure to control the virus the previous 3 months when we had a chance. Tell everyone you know to wear a mask, get your area down to nothing, tell everybody online to do the same, and maybe we'll get some football at some time this year.
This type of comment is trash. The type of heroism required to run into the spray of bullets on D-Day should carry enough reverence to keep their unfathomable sacrifice out of any bullshit talking point on a football forum.Your chances of dying in D-Day were 0.0133333333% if you were an American soldier. Why a big deal? Those guys get too much credit.
Quite possibly the worst false equivalency in history.Your chances of dying in D-Day were 0.0133333333% if you were an American soldier. Why a big deal? Those guys get too much credit.
No words. Its like comparing an asteroid strike to cancer. Why even try? This type of comment is trash. The type of heroism required to run into the spray of bullets on D-Day should carry enough reverence to keep their unfathomable sacrifice out of any bullshit talking point on a football forum.

go take a full dose of covid-19 and likewise.U should have had your azz on that beach.. Then we would see how big of a talker you are.
About as trashy as minimizing the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have lost loved ones or their lives due to American incompetency. Ignoring the 160k+ deaths, the peripheral suffering from lack of funerals and hospice, and the long term health effects for survivors is magnitudes worse. Also keep in mind that the soldiers on the beach who sacrificed their sanity to fight that day were also minimized by American society who didn't want to hear about their "mental problems".This type of comment is trash. mistakes from China to the UN to American elected officials all the way down to the common citizen who wouldn't limit travel or large gatherings/protests.About as trashy as minimizing the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have lost loved ones or their lives due to American incompetency. Take your thoughts elsewhere. You're not some educated martyr spreading unknown information despite your belief that that's the role you're playing.About as trashy as minimizing the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have lost loved ones or their lives due to American incompetency. You can get it and be asymptomatic, and entire population can get it and have relatively weak symptoms if the community viral load is low, and people get a small viral load themselves. America has missed out on that opportunity because community load is very high in some areas and people do not universally wear masks. When you get covid-19 you do not get the same dose as your neighbor. If you get what is termed as a "lethal" dose your chances of going through the chain of symptoms are much higher. If you are wearing a mask you can be inoculated and become an asymptomatic carrier, which is dangerous, but not so much if you always wear a mask in risky situations."Get it down to nothing". Possibly the greatest misnomer in history. We have 2 options:
1. Get it over with quickly
2. Get it over with over an extended period of time.
Why are people resisting this? All we can do is affect the timeline.

Sounds like you need some fresh air, sunshine and to clear your head man.
