On the BTN Final Drive show, did anyone else notice that the network didn't even send a reporter to Lincoln to do post-game interviews? They also started off the show with the tease of Big Time opponents "going down" to Big Ten teams as being "Oklahoma, Norte Dame, and DUKE!"
If you could send a reporter to Norman to do post-game interviews, you could have at least paid Damon Benning or Steve Taylor to elicit some reaction statements after Nebraska's 350th Home Sellout and first win over a ranked non-con opponent since 2001?
In fact, they didn't even mention the Sellout Streak the entire 1-hour recap show. They did point out, however, that tOSU has a Big Ten record 17-game road winning streak, and that Ohio State has spent the most weeks as AP #1 in history on several occasions.
I get Urban's trounced a ranked team on the road, and that the universe apparently revolves around Columbus, OH. But the setting for the Nebraska game couldn't have been more historic (350th straight sellout), the storyline was dripping with angles (Riley vs . Oregon, only 4th ranked opponent to visit Nebraska since 2001), and the table was set for the biggest victory this CENTURY for a program that appears to be finally trending up under Riley.
Far be it from me to tell BTN producers which games they need to send reporters to get original content, but what other Nebraska home game are you going to have these kind of story lines to cover? Purdue? Illinois? Maryland? Minnesota?
The only redeeming aspect of the Big Ten Network is apparently Nebraska can look forward to the fact that (after 6 years) they will finally get a full share of league TV revenues in July 2017. Maybe BTN should just change their name to the Big Ten East Network brought to you by The Ohio State (because if the shoe fits)...
