Rooting for Penn State, Ohio State, and Illinois this weekend. Need teams with a combined .250 conference winning percentage to play above their record against teams with a combined .667 conference winning percentage.

Michigan State winning a couple games this weekend would be nice, too.

And most importantly, we need to keep our train chugging along.

Especially if Sparty wants to make the B1G tournament.

That tie we had earlier in the year could actually end up haunting us for the regular season title.

I doubt we make it to the reg season title. But that tie could help us be alone in 2nd place.

We're in 1st place right now. Check the loss column. If that doesn't change we will walk right in to the title.

Inl get what you are saying but at this point the loss column dont matter. They have more wins. They also have 4 more chances to win or lose where we have 7 more chances to win or lose. They have a much better chance of winning out than we do.

That loss column puts us in control of our destiny. Don't need help from anyone. Let's see what we can do with the controls, right?

They have 2.5 more wins and have played 3 more games. Would you rather hope your team wins (against bad opponents) or hope the other team loses (against bad opponents)? If Maryland and Nebraska both win out, Nebraska finishes first.

Who said I dont want them to win? If course I want them to win but Im saying Maryland has the upper hand at the present moment.

Don't know about that. Wouldn't you say that he who controls their destiny has the upper hand over he who sits and waits for the other to stumble?

Wondering how many times the leader in the clubhouse emerges as the eventual winner?

Or do you just think that the remaining schedules favor Maryland?

Absolutely. Maryland has Northwestern at home next week and their conference regular season schedule is done. We have Michigan State at home (not world beaters, but able to win their series with us), then a trip to Happy Valley. As bad as Penn State is this season, road sweeps are difficult.

It is easier to win 4 games in a row than it is 7. You follow Nebraska baseball, you know how unpredictable they are. Michigan State isnt a great team but they are capable of taking 2 from Nebraska especially with the way Nebraska plays. Penn State is about the only team in the B1G that you can almost guarantee a win. Thankfully Nebraska is playing better than they have all season. Hopefully it continues.

Throw in that in winning the next 7 conference games, NU would have an 11-game conference winning streak. I'd say the odds of that are very low.
