The Minnesota vs. Purdue game was suspended for the night in the 7th inning with the Boilermakers leading 5-2. The two teams will resume that game tomorrow and then try to get in a doubleheader after that to finish up the series as it is supposed to rain on Saturday in the Twin Cities.

Purdue did officially win that suspended game from last night 5-2 and should be starting their next game soon.
That makes the loss yesterday suck even more. Exactly what we needed to happen in other games happened, and we couldn't get it done. Now Purdue has to win the series on the road for us to win the conference(and of course we have to win the next two games, which after yesterday's debacle, I'm much less confident of.)

I've updated the standings at the beginning of this thread to reflect Purdue's Game #1 win over Minnesota

FWIW, Purdue just put up 5 runs in the top of the 2nd in the first full game of the day on Friday. 5-0 Boilers.

I'm quite confident Nebraska will win the last two games of this series. This team has definitely shown it bounces back from a bad loss. It just needs to cut down on the bad losses. :)

I do my best to just sit back and enjoy the ride without getting my hopes up. Yeah.......it doesnt work. So now Im gonna try to learn to take the kick in the balls better and make that an expectation.

That is one thing I will give Erstad credit for is his ability to bounce back game to game. Hopefully they find a way to do it within the game more but a lot of that is the coaches leaving the pitchers out on an island.

I almost hate myself as a poster because I feel like I bring this up every weekend series. Now yesterday happened fast and they did get McSteen up and ready which gave me hope. But no mound visit, no pitching change, and a loss 15 minutes later left me scratching my head.

What's crazy is we still could control our own destiny by the time this game starts in a couple hours!

Baseball is a sport that leaves you hating the game one inning and the next inning you are reminded why you love it so much.

Just got to roll with the punches b/c the punches always come.

Somehow, knowing that doesn't really help. Yesterday's loss seems inexcusable. We had a three run lead going to the bottom of the 8th. Against Penn St for crying out loud.

But baseball gonna baseball. So many head scratching losses yesterday.

Michigan State is eliminated with their loss to Michigan tonight. The field is set, just a matter of seeding now.

Purdue (12-12) will be the 8 seed and Northwestern (12-11) the 7 seed regardless of Northwestern's home game against Rutgers tomorrow. Northwestern took their series with Purdue 2 games to 1 this season.

Indiana (13-9-1) will be the 6 seed regardless of the result of their game tomorrow.

Maryland and Iowa will both finish at 15-9. Not sure how that tie will be broken, they didn't play each other. Maryland has the tiebreaker over Michigan should Michigan lose to MSU tomorrow.

Nebraska will be anywhere from #1 to #3.
Win tomorrow: #1
Lose tomorrow, Michigan loss: #2
Lose tomorrow, Michigan win: #3

Minnesota will be anywhere from #1 to #3.
Nebraska loss, Michigan loss: #1
Nebraska loss, Michigan win: #2
Nebraska win, Michigan loss: #2
Nebraska win, Michigan win: #3

Michigan will be anywhere from #1 to #3 or #4 (?).
Win plus Nebraska loss: #1
Win plus Nebraska win: #2
Loss: 3-way tie with Maryland and Iowa at 15-9 for the 3-seed, with tiebreaker over Maryland. I think that would make them the 3-seed as they would have the highest winning percentage among the tied teams, then some other tiebreaker for Iowa and Maryland for the 4/5 seeds.
