Big series for Michigan State, will finally get a better idea of how good that team really is. Iowa and Minny will be an interesting conference series to keep an eye on this weekend.

I agree we should know more about both Minnesota and Iowa after this series. I am curious about your comment about Michigan State though, they are playing Oregon who is 11-9 and 2-4 in conference. Will it really be that big of a test? Just wondering, maybe I am missing something about Oregon, or are you referring to MSU schedule?

Oregon isn't great this year but it is a Pac 12 team that sees Pac 12 competition. Michigan State should take 2/3 but a 1/3 series or a sweep would give us a better idea of where they really are as a team. MSU has a pretty weak schedule so its hard to tell is all.

Recently MSU lost 2/3 to South Florida and a midweek game to Oakland. They also swept Rutgers so its just hard to know where they are right now. If I had to guess they are playing more like an above average Big Ten team as of late and nothing more.

I hope they are legit because that only improves our competition and increases our RPI if we are as successful as we all hope we will be the rest of the season.

Thanks for the reply, kinda thought that was what you were meaning with your comment. See how MSU really handles a OK team from a big conference.

I also think this is a big test for MSU. They have been hugely successful so far this year but, yeah, their schedule is suspect.

MSU never actually played a three game series until March 18th - a full month into the season. And they promptly lost that 2-1 to So Florida. Prior to that they had played 14 straight single games against 14 different opponents. That's odd.

MSU surprised Oregon last year by sweeping them at Oregon. Oregon is better than their record and should be smarting from last year's loss at home.

That MSU Rutgers game ultimately shows nothing. I just watched Rutgers get destroyed by Monmouth. MSU is probably pretty good but I don't think they can handle us

Agreed. Rutgers, Northwestern, and Purdue are awful this year. Penn State isn't too far behind them.

Michigan St needs to jump on Oregon hard...
The Ducks are having problems.

Northwestern almost stole the series from Ohio St last week...
So how will the Wildcats do against the Wolverines?

Rutgers is interesting...
because their RPI is high (78th)
but their overall record is bad (9 and 15)

I'd like to see the Boilersmakers get it going
and take it to Penn St

Huskers may be due for a let-down game
but the motivation needs to be...
beating last season's conference champs.

And then there's Iowa and Minnesota
BTN's top baseball game this weekend (Sunday 3pm)
both teams had impressive series last week
I can't seem to pick one over the other, so....
home team wins the series... Gophers

Good college baseball game on this Thursday night
ESPNU at 7pm central
South Carolina at Vanderbilt

Minnesota beats Iowa 4-1 today. Every conference series does matter but since we don't play either of these 2 teams, it isnt as big of a deal. But always love to see the Herkies lose at anything.
