I will say with how it used to be it was much easier and setup in favor of the top seed. They'd get a 1st round bye and the championship game was a true double elimination so the odds of someone winning from the losers bracket was very unlikely. not to say either Minnesota or Nebraska played up to snuff but taking away the 6 team setup only one champion won and that was Indiana in 2014 (one of the best teams in Big Ten History).
