First time watching some of these recruits game tape. The O line recruits film really jumps out. John Raridon is tossing guys around like rag dolls. Same goes for the rest. These 4 blue collar types will rebuild the pipeline for NU. Mix in with Gates, Jalin Barnett, DJ Foster, and a few from last years class. Bright future for the offense at NU. QB's and RB's are gonna love to line up and play behind these monsters. GBR!!

Let's hope so. Usually takes olineman a couple years to break into the rotation. I agree that it's likely that Patrick O Brien doesn't object Smokin

GBR

You'd think it would take a Olineman to take a few years to adjust but remember Tyler Moore started as a true freshman and Nick Gates is only a redshirted Freshman....so its possible for a freshmen to play right away at the Oline, if there good enougg and strong enough, there good to go. Im GUESSING the strength part of it is porbably the biggest issue more the talent, skill or play book.

If you can play, then you can play, but realize how big of a difference there was between the competition Gates and Moore faced in HS compared to Farniok. Moore played in the large school classification of Florida. Gates played in a Las Vegas school full of top prospects, which went out of state to play against the top programs in the west. If it takes a bit for Farniok to adjust, that would be completely expected. If he plays right away, that would be an upset. Of course, given our depth at OT, he may be sent out to sink or swim.
He did pancake his opponents rather emphatically in those highlights.

Farniok did just fine in the All Star game recently and he did in fact have to block a couple of D-1 (albeit lesser programs) scholarship recruits in high school. Not every South Dakota D-lineman is 6' 230lbs. That said, I expect him to need to redshirt. Its a big leap to college football for even a kid from the biggest high schools. He'll have plenty to learn.

My guess with Farniok is he will redshirt this year and get into the top 2 in the depth charts his R freshman year and possibly starter by the time he hits Sophomore year. Dudes a beast but i agree, he may not be ready for the speed, strength and quality of D1 football next year.

My guess is he will bolt if not given the nod by year 2. He seems cocksure to say the least.

RollingLaughI take it you're a Hawkeye fan. Ridiculous post. He's about as level headed and realistic about what lies ahead of him as any kid I've heard interviewed.

I'm sure that it will be a big jump for Matt. The top programs in SD are still pretty weak compared to most states. Omaha has a population that is equal to our whole state - just to give a comparison. That being said, I think he has the skills & pedigree to do just fine.

If I remember correctly doesn't he have a couple other brothers that played college football? It should be no surprise to him what it takes to play football at the collegiate level. In fact, I would expect him to know fully what it will take for him to excel at Nebraska.

For perspective here, Jalin Barnett came in last year:
Higher ranked than Farniok
Just as physically gifted as Farniok
Played a much higher level of HS competition
Was a guard, where we struggled much of rhe year...

And he needed a redshirt.
