BIG mayors sticking their noses into football

Mental illness comes in many forms. It's inaccurate and unfair to describe all Dims/Libs/Leftists as snowflakes or KLANTIFA types. Many sufferers actually look like your everyday normal person. Those are the ones I worry about most. At least the snowflakes/KLANTIFA understand and embrace who they are and telegraph their mental challenges to all.
They are the worst of the sheep. The appeal to authority types - they have no backbone. Scared to be on the wrong side they've never had an original thought - not that most of them are smart enough to. They're fine with getting in behind the virtue signalers and shaking their heads disapprovingly at those they think they're better than.

If less and less people are dying, and hospitals are not being overrun, why are businesses limited and sporting events shut down?

Florida has been open for almost 4 weeks and they have not experienced an increase in cases larger than anywhere else. Beaches are busy, bars and restaurants open and full.

Things are not adding up from the "public health officials "

Regarding IFR

It’s unfortunate that perception seems to be as big of a part of the discussion as it is. I am infinitely more concerned with policy than a popularity contest. Unfortunately, Trump has painted a massive bullseye on his back by being such a loud mouth, and in the process, allowed liberals/democrats to make this election all about something that ultimately should be far less important than what the administration is actually doing. Seriously, Biden doesn’t even come out of his basement anymore, and when he does, he deflects any attempt to glean anything meaningful from him.

Everyone knows Trump is a loose cannon. And you can debate about negative effect he has as a leader. But it’s unfortunate that it seems like this election is being decided by an intense hatred that is derived primarily from perception and seems to have little to do with policy.

None of my business, but I assume you’re comfortable with what we know of the policy of a Biden/Harris ticket? Personally, I am scared as hell by the direction of the Democratic Party.

Aren't we saying the same thing, here? I absolutely agree that it would be better to debate policy, but that debate is never going to happen with a person like Trump, or that dipshit who spends all day screaming "retard" into the internet. You can say "not all conservatives" if you want, but it's obviously some conservatives, and the others don't seem to have a better plan (IMO that's the perception problem, not that all of you are bigots etc).

For starters, I've been told that I'm supposed to be scared of Democrats since 1992. I haven't always voted that way, but forgive me if I find that schtick to be tired and worn. Neither myself nor anyone I know has ever had a gun taken away, aside from the drunken coworker that once illegally fired his shotgun into the air in a well-populated suburban neighborhood.

I could first vote in 1992, and have memories of the presidency since Reagan. Whether I voted for someone or not, or agreed with everything a president has done (and, so far, there has yet to be a president with whom I agreed 100%), I have always been able to respect how they represented our nation. That streak has ended with the current president.

Seems to me if Admiral William McRaven can vote for Biden, I can as well. Yeah, I'm sure there will be something Biden/Harris will do that I don't like; and I'll have zero hesitation in voting them out in 2024 if I think it is warranted.

I dare someone to tell me that McRaven is a communist or mentally ill, like some have professed on here with regards to Biden voters.

McRaven seems like an impressive guy for sure. There are countless people, though, that the same can be said for on either side of the isle. Ultimately, it comes down to what makes sense to you, and I hope for most people that their sense comes down to more than their hatred for Trump.

Regarding being scared of the future, I suppose everything is relative. Do you think, though, that the political climate is the same now as it was in 1992?

I know he served 37 years longer in the military than Trump did, and was in several positions of leadership, including leadership on the Bin Laden raid. I won't even go into how he has carried himself with far more honor during his life than has the current president.

I'm sure you have a link from some right-wing source that no one has heard of that has tales of wrongdoing by McRaven, right; things that all came to light right after McRaven endorsed Biden, of course.

No, it isn't. There is more bullshit slung now than there was in 1992, and, like I said, I have no qualms about changing my vote in 2024 if necessary. I did it from 2008 to 2012.

Regarding IFR

You're cute. You really are. I'd bet you're aware of the hysterics and panic porn the Kansas City Star routinely prints.

This is no different. Pure panic porn from attention whores and fear mongers. Here's the original article. https://www.kansascity.com/news/coronavirus/article246478675.html

Now, I'm no rocket surgeon, but to me it looks like there isn't hospital over 80% full...

Just how sensational is this article? With quotes like "We're going to be the next New York" you have to wonder what their agenda is.

“I worry that if we don’t start taking this seriously as a metropolitan area, we’re going to be the next New York,” he said. “We’re going to be the next hot spot, because though we have a lot of hospitals, we have a lot of capacity in the area, we are filling up fast.”

Remember, that's the New York where they had hospital ships and field hospitals never used. Where hospitals wouldn't transfer patients to empty hospitals because they'd lose out on covid care money.

The hysteria in the KC region has been the same since St Patricks day. When there were barely any cases at all in Kansas or Missouri.

Of significant note this doctor didn't provide any information on the length of stay or how many are discharged in the same day.

Now, you might ask, are wuflu patients taking up the ICU beds? Well above that shows at least 20% available. But this shows it a little better.

KDHE-ICU.png

The deaths below are from August so the numbers have increased a bit, but obviously a lot is going to have to change for any place to be like New York. Lots of blue states at the top of this list.

Mkay, you missed the point completely. it was about 1 hospital (yes he quoted the article but that wasn’t the point). 10X deaths to last season’s flu count. Oxygen use up 600%, 97 current covid patients in a hospital that typically has a census of 600.

You keep trying to use wide data to prove a point, but this is a localized issue for hospitals and communities. In rural communities if a hospital fills and you are an hour or more from the nearest hospital with capacity, with a serious case that could be the difference between life and death.

Steve is a CEO, not a doctor. Here’s that hospital’s data. Average LOS is 6 days.

Nope, I know nothing about him other than he endorsed Biden just like everyone else. Thats why its funny that people give his opinion any value.
I also know that he isn't a member of BLM or Antifa, which is the lens through which that many of the pro-Trump people view anyone that is voting for Biden.

Imagine thinking you're slick when you compare absolute numbers to rates and percentages.

Fact remains IFR continues to drop and will likely be below the flu.

It's not 10x deaths and you know it. That's not an apples to apples comparison. And wasn't last lessons flu count significantly lighter than usual? Could you be any more disingenuous to compare a better than avg year of flu deaths to a pandemic and then act like your point is valid?

600% oxygen... Ok. Meaningless without context.

This is panic porn! It's not an accurate representation of reality. Fact is there is plenty of capacity in hospitals even with the recent rise in cases.

Open America. Protect the sick amd elderly. Do it now.

Hmm?

Per Wikipedia:

In August 2018, McRaven expressed support for former CIA Director John O. Brennan, whose security clearance had recently been revoked by the Trump Administration. He authored an open letter to President Donald Trump in The Washington Post entitled "Revoke my security clearance, too, Mr. President", in which he affirmed his regard for Brennan, his former colleague, and offered criticism of the decisions and personal behavior of President Trump.[29] McRaven said of Brennan, "He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question ... except by those who don't know him." Upon the February 2020 dismissal by the president of Joseph Maguire for having briefed congressional intelligence committee members about emerging evidence of foreign efforts to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, McRaven authored a guest editorial in The Washington Post in which he declared that, "As Americans, we should be frightened — deeply afraid for the future of the nation. When good men and women can’t speak the truth, when facts are inconvenient, when integrity and character no longer matter, when presidential ego and self-preservation are more important than national security — then there is nothing left to stop the triumph of evil."
So, according to McRaven John Brennan is the epitome of integrity? Seems like a vendetta to me. McRaven needs to do some soul searching. In addition, we hear very little from McRaven while Twitter continues to suppress The New York Posts Twitter account. I mean when the facts are inconvenient then there is nothing left to stop the triumph of evil it's probably time to step up - right Admiral?

Per The Guardian:
As reports emerged Thursday that an internal investigation by the Central Intelligence Agency’s inspector general found that the CIA “improperly” spied on US Senate staffers when researching the CIA’s dark history of torture, it was hard to conclude anything but the obvious: John Brennan blatantly lied to the American public. Again.
Keyword there is AGAIN.

Per The New York Post:
The newly released notes from Brennan, who now is a fiery anti-Trump commentator, indicate that Brennan briefed Obama on “alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 28 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.”

THIS IS THE BIGGER STORY. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-biden-business-partner-email-genuine-joe-biden-advice But you will barely see it on the new Jeffrey Toobin CNN channel.

Glad you know more than a CEO of a billion dollar a year health system and people who have dedicated their lives to caring for the health of their populations.

You have continually claimed this is no worse than the normal flu, then when called on your willful ignorance, showing data where last year’s flu season showed 11 deaths for a full year for the flu, but 110+ for COVID so far you claim I’m being disingenuous.

I am pointing out that there is a drastic impact on some hospitals, is the whole system stretched? No, is that relevant if you can’t get care at your local, in network hospital and are forced to maybe drive an hour plus and face out of network charges that could be thousands of dollars more?

I'll take McRaven's support of John Brennan over Trump's daily, and lifetime, behavior, any day of the week.

History
The New York Post, established on November 16, 1801, as the New-York Evening Post, describes itself as the nation's oldest continuously published daily newspaper. The Providence Journal, which began daily publication on July 21, 1829, also bills itself as the nation's oldest continuously published daily newspaper because the New York Post halted publication during strikes in 1958 and 1978.[5] The Hartford Courant, believed to be the oldest continuously published newspaper, was founded in 1764 as a semi-weekly paper; it did not publish daily until 1836. The New Hampshire Gazette, which has trademarked its claim of being The Nation's Oldest Newspaper, was founded in 1756 as a weekly. Since the 1890s it has been published only on weekends.[citation needed]

I posted the Guardian too....'crickets'. I can keep adding links from Huffington Post, The Washington Post and the NY Times if you prefer?

Using Wikipedia (left-leaning) was for his benefit, not mine. Of course Wikipedia is going to bash the NY Post they're still claiming the Hunter Biden story is a 'nothing to see here'. But we can talk about CNN staff writer New Yorker sontributor Jeffrey Toobin if you like https://www.foxnews.com/media/jeffrey-toobin-return-cnn-masturbation-scandal-insiders .

Not a good look for team lockdown when your lockdown kills 4.4 people for every corona death in that age bracket.

suicide, drug overdose and fear of going to the Dr. for actual health problems have led to more deaths than COVID. My wife's hospital service is swamped right now with........people with severe lung disease not caused by COVID. They put off their normal tune ups due to a fear of catching COVID and now they're in the ICU due to their pulmonary disease. Less than 10% of the pulmonary patients hospitalized right now are due to COVID.

“If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone..."

Not only are you imperfect, but you're in no position to compare your morality to anyone else's, let alone to any people who actually do things of importance with their lives.

Do you think you're more moral than a President who dropped bombs on more countries (sometimes killing children) than any president since WWII? Is that President more or less moral than one who's cheated on their spouse?

Do you think you're more moral than a President who sends troops into battle? Is that President more or less moral than one who brings the troops back home and keeps the country out of any new engagements?

You respected Mr. Apology Tour? You clearly get your "news" from the alphabet networks.

You have no room to throw phrases around like “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone..."

Again, I haven't cheated on my wife. He's cheated on all of them. Therefore, in that category, yes, I am morally superior.

Maybe tone down your rhetoric before talking about casting stone, OK?

You're using World Net Daily, and expecting to be taken seriously?

If bowing to the Saudi king is the worst thing he has done, or holding hands with him like Bush 43 did, then I can live with it; as opposed to someone that takes the word of Putin over our intel folks, or sucks up to Kim because of some love letters.

If you're a fan of Trump's policies, then so be it. But spares us about what a great representative he is for our nation, or what an upstanding human being he is.

You obviously get your NPC programming (i.e., "news") from the alphabet networks if you actually believe the BS you just typed.

"takes the word of Putin over our intel folks"? Be specific. Are you referring to the bogus claim that the Russians (Russia, Russia, Russia) had put a bounty on the heads of US soldiers? The claim that our intel found not credible?

"sucks up to Kim..."? I'm sure you've never heard the term "speak softly, but carry a big stick". Unlike Obama, who was all bark and no bite, President Trump has enacted further sanctions against N Korea, passed an E.O. to freeze assets of businesses that dealt w/ N Korea, and encouraged China and Russia to enact their own sanctions against N Korea.

As is all too common with those on the Left, you get caught up in the talk (or ideas) and care nothing about the actual actions or end results.

The worst thing Obama did? Now that's one HUGE list, but I suppose the absolute worst was his, and his cronies, attempted coup against our duly elected president. If we had an actual press even you NPCs wouldn't be able to ignore what's likely the biggest political scandal in our country's history.

suicide, drug overdose and fear of going to the Dr. for actual health problems have led to more deaths than COVID. My wife's hospital service is swamped right now with........people with severe lung disease not caused by COVID. They put off their normal tune ups due to a fear of catching COVID and now they're in the ICU due to their pulmonary disease. Less than 10% of the pulmonary patients hospitalized right now are due to COVID.
well except that policy isnt necessarily what's keeping people from going to the doctor. People are CHOOSING to not go to the doctor themselves in most instances. Everything that happens is not because of a political choice. Most of the time its human psyche

if we have more people micromanaging health care it has been proven we would have better outcomes at a lower cost. you make arguments purely for the sake of parroting your political party lines without even knowing the evidence or data. instead of spending your life spouting lines from 50 years ago why dont you do spend some time doing research on those topics with todays knowledge and information. if someone doesn't take over healthcare it is going to doom our economy. the free market system has never worked for healthcare

Instead of using the federal gov't, how about you guys just group together and share your bills like Christian organizations do.

From what I'm told, the left is the popular segment of society. Just build a pooled health insurance company that doesn't focus on ridiculous profit margins, Pays all employees equally at 50 to 70k a year.

That's called not giving the government, this body of proven liars, swindlers, cheats, perverts and morons more power...

For as much media, comedy, music and art the left comes up with they sure are sllllllllllllow.

It's time. Open everything. Do it now.

That isn’t what it says....

Interpretation
Individual NPIs, including school closure, workplace closure, public events ban, ban on gatherings of more than ten people, requirements to stay at home, and internal movement limits, are associated with reduced transmission of SARS-CoV-2, but the effect of introducing and lifting these NPIs is delayed by 1–3 weeks, with this delay being longer when lifting NPIs. These findings provide additional evidence that can inform policy-maker decisions on the timing of introducing and lifting different NPIs, although R should be interpreted in the context of its known limitations.
