2 Big DL, LB and CB visiting soon

Potential over production. Not what I generally want from the portal, but exceptions are fine for true freshman linemen and QBs.
We haven't been taking big recruiting classes, 20 this year I believe, so we are supplementing with young portal guys looking for greener pastures. Seems to mostly be on the dline.

Did a bit of research. This kid took official visits to Texas, Texas A&M, Miami and Auburn. He had a great offer list and most of that interest was real. The fact that Purdue is also going after him is a good endorsement as well. Purdue produces great defensive lineman including that Scourton kid who left to take the NIL offer at A&M. A good fit for the 3-3-5. On the negative, he will be going to his fourth school in four years though.

I agree 100%. Certain kids are worth it though and this kid might be one of them. He's been in the portal for a while now. I bet they are bringing him in just to first find out how tall he really is and his arm length. Apparently, he's three inches shorter than IMG Academy was billing him as.

Looks like this Groves-Killebrew character has never gone through a December in his college career without entering the transfer portal. Looking for his fourth school now. Certainly worth a look. I wouldn't think he would be a high dollar NIL kid, but he was a starting corner in the Big 12 and was a Georgia commit at one point.

With Wright back, landing Marshall, and Jones playing great in the Bowl Game, I’m surprised we are after another CB.

We need to be honest with ourselves, these visits are about leveraging NIL deals. With the new way of college sports has evolved we need to understand and embrace the new way these college athletes think, it's nothing personal it's just business.

Me too. I heard Callahan or somebody say that we should realize that some of these visitors are not actually leaving with an offer. They're just taking a look at them or putting them on the back burner if a better prospect turns us down. I would think that to be the case here unless the staff has no faith in about 10 of our DB backups in the program.

do we have to wait for Braden to join as the coach when the Chiefs season is over. Isn’t he the assistant dline coach? Be nice if he was in campus when the portal dline guys visit.

Seems like the NFL contracts are different. You must have to stay until your season is over. Pot Roast and Rob D had to wait until Carolinas season was over to join Rhule :

That just shows we freakin whiffed on a bunch of reaches at DB. We have 14 effing freshmen DBs left on the scholly chart… and we are bringing in more DBs?
Guarantee that 7-8 of those 14 frosh are whiffs, in addition to the couple young guys that already washed out like Safeuellah Bootle etc.
We need to start signing 30 guys each fall to load up on CBs, LBs, DTs
Spring will tell us a lot, IMO

MR has talked about this multiple times- N having more DBs than most teams. Seems more portal activity will happen

I will say though that the staff probably isn't surprised. There was talk when some of those kids were brought in that the plan was to bring in a few athletic, high risk/high reward types. Maybe a few of them just aren't ready. And a few others may never be. Donovan Jones obviously showed that he can play. Lloyd was another one, but on the offensive side. Now Lloyd's in the portal. Others will follow.

Is recruiting some athletic "long shots" something that they should stop doing? Maybe. But in the age of the portal, recruiting errors can be made up pretty quickly.

Yeah baby!

Just considering the timing and that there isnt much more than another week for some of these guys to apply and enroll, I think we could get all 4. That’s LB, DL, DL, CB
I like it.
If we can get Faamoe, that would close a major off season. We could have used a RB but I guess we will roll with Ives, EJ, and Parker. Maybe Booth. I am looking at the RBs remaining in the portal and there ain’t much
