Bear Bryant in the Big Ten?

Why is there a bust of Bear Bryant in the picture for the Robin Washout article "Live updates from Big Ten media days"? Does someone need a history lesson?

I googled and found that Bear Bryant coached at Maryland (for one year, in 1945). So I guess the BIG is claiming him the same way they've claimed Tom Osborne and Tommie Frazier.

The better explanation is that the picture wasn't taken at B1G media days.

I googled and found that Bear Bryant coached at Maryland (for one year, in 1945). So I guess the BIG is claiming him the same way they've claimed Tom Osborne and Tommie Frazier.

Bear Bryant left Maryland because he wanted to discipline a player while the AD did not. They had a disagreement and he left for Kentucky. The rest is history.
