Basketball Scrimmage

Linked is last nights final period of the scrimmage. Only 5 minutes of play but a couple things that jump out is 1. McVeigh was stroking.....quick release, going to need that from his this year with the loss of White. 2. Jordy looks like he is going to be ready to play right away. You never know with freshman bigs...but, he has good coordination and is going to be a welcomed addition. 3. Many had some concerns about Taylor...including me, due to his JUCO stats...but, he's a big body guard that will come in handy on the defensive end come Big Ten play.

Morrow was out as he was sick so he did not participate.

Jordy has to play right away...but true freshman big (not ranked in the top 10) just have such a hard time at D1 and especially in the Big Ten

Agreed.....but, many bigs look out of place right away. Granted, in practices Jordy is not going against another Big like he will see in the Big Ten but he's not shy in going up to get a rebound and his coordination looked surprisingly good for a incoming big. I don't think anybody is going to expect him to drop 10 and 8 on the year but he's definitely going to help right away and not be a liability out there. The biggest question that will need answered is if he can defend without fouling. Either way, he looks like he will be a good on for us in the future. This is all based on one scrimmage but I think we went 3 for 3 on this years freshman class. Hopefully they all stick around.

I sense this bunch of kids will play together which is big. An actual big guy is a first along with a shooter. Throw in our muscle garbage guys who have gotten stronger we just might win a lot of PBA games. Road wins will still be tough.

If he can get 15 minutes a game (in conference play) and average 4 and 4...that would be pretty decent.

If McVeigh continues to shoot 98% from 3 pt range, we'll have a winning record come conference play!

The offensive 'weave' appeared to already be in mid-season form. Woo-hoo!
