He graduated years ago so we can't blame him.
Why not just play the series there? It isn't ideal but it would be nice to actually play a game or two at some point this season.
I agree that flying the team down there would be the best option. Sounds like the stadium they play in is kinda small and has been a part of the ridiculously high offensive numbers that New Mexico has put up. I hope we are not ducking them due to a perceived home field advantage? I am inclined to think that is not the case, as Baylor would be the same kind of deal and DE has been right up front with the "we will play anyone anywhere" mantra.
My guess is the semantic. Baylor was decided a week and half in advance but with NM State and cancelling today it seems the semantics to reschedule, charter a plane, hotel accommodations, etc. may have come into play. That is just my assumption though because I really don't know.
There is a thing about days away from class. Those days are counted and there is a limit to them. Could be that.
It wouldn't have been an issue if they flew down on Friday and played a double header on Saturday. This feels like the Akron game all over again. Instead of cancelling the series several days ahead of time, surely there was an option to play somewhere else. Westside has been mentioned for the Air Force games. IWCC had a turf field in Council Bluffs. Hell find one of 10,000 baseball fields south of Lincoln and play at a completely neutral site.
We are currently scheduled for 48 games and that isn't including more cold/snow/rain heading into league play. I think this team is good enough to play in a Regional, but the resume will need some help at the end of the year barring a conference title.
Looks like rain all day Saturday and some Sunday. I hope they are smart enough to try and work in a double header on Friday.
