31-12, 31-12 in Big Ten (0-0 vs. Top 25)
Results: May 28-29: vs. Michigan (W 1-0, L 0-2, W 5-3)

Nebraska put an exclamation point on its Big Ten title-winning season with a series win against Michigan. Lefthander Cade Povich tossed a gem in game 1, throwing seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts. Now that it has reached the end of the full Big Ten slate, it's important to appreciate the totality of what Nebraska accomplished. Its only series loss was the sweep against Rutgers, it won series against Maryland and Michigan, won three of its five games against Iowa and three of its four with Indiana. Against the best teams in their conference, the Cornhuskers left no doubt.

Not sure where to put this but so many people were all over Nebraska for the easy schedule to start the season.

Weekend 1 in Texas:
Purdue, terrible

Weekend 2 in Minnesota:
#5 Ioa & #6 Ohio State

Weekend 3 in Iowa:
#5 Ioa

Weekend 4 in Nebraska:
Minnesota, terrible

Weekend 5 in Illinois:
#7 Illinois

Weekend 6 in Nebraska:
#2 Maryland

13 of first 21 games against teams that finished .500 or better. 14 of first 21 games, 5 of 7 weekends, on the road (15-6 record). That's not easy, regardless of opponents.

Weekend 7 in Pennsylvania:
#9 Penn State

Weekend 8 in Michigan:
Michigan State, terrible

Weekend 9 in Nebraska:
#8 Rutgers

Weekend 10 in New Jersey:
#8 Rutgers, #4 Indiana

(Note: 3 of 4 on the road)

Weekend 11 in Nebraska:
Northwestern, off of covid break

Weekend 12 in Indiana:
#4 Indiana & #6 Ohio State

Weekend 13 in Nebraska:
#3 Michigan

9 of last 22 games against teams with .500 or better records. 16-6 record during this stretch.

Hindsight is 20/20, but our first half schedule had 4 more games against .500 or better teams although we played 1 less total games compared to the last half of our schedule. And our results were the exact same (15-6 v 16-6) in the first half as it was the second half.

Curious how others see it.

You're not wrong but doesn't it come down to the word 'start'. If we look at just the first 15 games, we played eight of them against Purdue and Minnesota. I remember thinking that was easy scheduling to start the season.

Absolutely it does, except people were still talking about it at the midway point. I'm not specific about this place, but all of social media type outlets including message boards.

While we played those 8, we also played 7 against Ioa & Ohio State. Both teams were predicted to finish better than Nebraska with regional berths. Sometimes, pundits get in the heads of fans.

Unfortunately the committee doesnt look too far past the 16 seeds. They put the winner of the 1 seed regional against the winner of the 16 seed regional and thats all they care about. I would safely say they wanted good story lines in our regional. If Nebraska wins that and end up making the CWS that is all you will hear about is how the student overcame all odds and beat the teacher to make it to Omaha.

Do I think that is the right way of doing things? Hell no the committee is full of morons.

Say Nebraska is the best #2 seed. They would typically go to the #16 seed regional correct? If ya win that ya gotta play Arkansas (or the winner of the #1 seed regional) anyways. Beat the first round and have an easier road after that.

They don't score the 2 seeds from best to worst. But sending a 42 RPI up against the top seed is right up their alley.

Now, commonly, a 42 RPI would be a 3 seed. Why are we a two seed? Because of RAC - the Regional Advisory Committee. These people assess and evaluate teams in their regions and write reports to the committee. The local RAC would definitely like us just like the polls do and would tell the committee.

While RPI is the main overlaying tool of the committee they have other tools like the quadrant thing, conference records and that RAC advice. I want to think there are a couple other thing they weigh in on but can't seem to bring them to mind.

Anyway, in my eyes, the committee always comes back to RPI. Not all the way back in every case but, yeah.

BTW, no one on the committee is keeping me informed, this is just me pasting together bits and pieces I've picked up on over the years.

They use the RPI when it fits their narrative.

They use RAC when it fits their narrative.

They use the quadrants when it fits their narrative.

The NCAA baseball selection committee is a partisan committee without accountability. Northern schools need to do something about it, or it'll remain that way for years to come.

Exactly right. When asked for an explanation they will offer any one of their little devices that happens to fit their action and do it without shame or consequences.

Spot on, sir.

Like I said before.. this will hurt Arky. No respect to put them agains a ranked Nebraska team. Nebraska will win the region.

Yep, even the explanation they gave on why Bama was in and Pitt was out didn’t make any sense other than the usual bias.

100% and they'll use contradictory explanations for different teams even in the same year.

Does anybody know who these people on the board are?
I believe the following are the Baseball Selection Committee members:

Jeff Altier, Stetson (Chair)
Bob Moosbrugger, Bowling Green
Desiree Reed-Francois, UNLV
John Cohen, Mississippi State
Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech
Matthew Hogue, Coastal Carolina
Marianne Vydra, Oregon State
Mike Buddie, Army
James C. Cole, Mercer
Gregory Walter, Missouri Valley Conference

Perfect Game has finally released their poll (listed above) and the Huskers check in at No. 16

PG is useless for anyone out of high school. Their interest level may pick up really soon but as of now, they're resourced very well for HS kids.
