Trying to look at things positive - here goes:

One of the knocks against this staff at OSU was the unwillingness to change - schemes that did not work were not adjusted.

I think when the OSU AD and the OSU fans had finally had enough and the AD started steps to effect change - Riley got the NU offer - he and this staff mistakenly took that as validiation for their way of looking at things.

Since this has gone south so quickly on them - I believe this may actually force change in their approach. if so I think they can be successful here - so in a way falling this quick could work in theo favor

Gotta give you credit for trying to see a silver lining in there somewhere. And I want to see it, but my eyes are failing and the silver is looking more of a dull grey at this point.

Man I really hope this is the case. It won't take a lot, just some minor tweaks could go a long ways.

There have been alot of tweeks on the D side, sitting Davie, moving MC all over and even to stand up LB position, cover 6, cover 2, cover 4.

Credit where credit is due... Appreciate your post here.

You've been hard to follow at times, but it is clear that you are a fan who wants what's best for the program. Props!

And I hope you are right!

Besides the point but, I've really developed a deep seated hatred for your "vicious dog man"....can't believe the wife hasn't "offed" him yet. lol

With the exception of the bomb that set up their score, the D actual played decent. So there seems to be some improvement with that. However, we can keep on throwing the ball like we do and run just to keep them honest. Hopefully, HCMR and OCDL learned their lesson last weekend and finally realize that maybe we should run first now that OZ seemed to put himself in-line for some serious playing time. He's a big bruising back with decent speed and can catch.....

Initially I thought that our RB situation was good before the season started, but as the games wore on, you quickly seen that we might not be as deep as everyone thought we'd be.

Getting back to OZ.....I think I stated in a different post, give OZ a shot with Jano leading the way.....even though the OL is hit and miss, at least Jano will make an effort to block someone......

I admire your optimism. Riley's history gives me none.

I thought the same thing when NU lost that horrible, unwatchable 9-7 game to Iowa State in 2009. I thought it might be the straw that caused Bo to reel in the offensive gurus obsessed with throwing the ball sideways to playmakers in space, and commit to reestablishing a reliable running game. Didn't happen, unfortunately.

Your assuming too much

1. They get that their scheme does not work. They could and probably do feel it is because of the players they currently have

2. They would admit failure and actually attempt to change .

I would argue that the attempt to create an offense that some what mimicks the strengths of the previous regimes offense indicates the willingness to adapt

Unfortunately not having an offense that is functional or that you are comfortable with as an offensive coordinator is the reason it is not working

Good heavens they changed and went almost exclusively to the run late in the game AND they had already shown multiple different looks on D throughout the game that were pretty effective. You can't coach what you don't know and Riley and Langsdorf are not Beck spread guys. They've incorporated some zone read but its ridiculous to suggest they could some how come in and just run Beck's offense. Hell, Beck couldn't run his own offense sometimes.
