Channel surfing this evening I had the misfortune to check out BTN with Wisconsin at 63. NU had MULTIPLE guys on that team that are still playing in the NFL today and that's the best he could do. Rex, Ameer, Compton, Enunwa, Bell (is he on a roster still?) etc. I watched TM miss wide open guy after wide open guy......Why in the heck did Tom keep him (BP) for so long? I could have run through some of those holes in our defense. What a crappy job of coaching. At least Riley canned his DC and DB coach after iffy coaching at times this year.

Sometimes it is coaching and not the players. TM and TA had a lot in common when it came to passing the football. Unfortunately that was not a good thing...

Every defense has some sort of weakness and some teams found Pelini's weaknesses. I suppose that game was somewhat like the 2001 Colorado debacle with the huge holes in the D.

Who knows whether Diaco's defense will be any better, but man I sure hope it is so we don't have to witness another beating like that again.

After that game, I couldn't believe there were any Pelini supporters left. It was obvious to me he wasn't cut out to be NU's head coach.

Wisconson reminds me of Nebraska of old. not so much the NC teams, but good solid teams that don't shoot themselves in the foot will both barrels using royal rio.
By trying to force NON passing qb's into becoming joe montana to appease that pass happy crowd.

Before the game, I thought we would finally win the conference. Instead we get an epic beat down. I'd have to go look, but I don't think we've beat Wiscy since that game.

Me, too. And true, we haven't beaten Wisconsin since earlier that same season.

we were playing a Wisconsin team that had 5 losses (was 4-4 in conference) and was in that game based on OSU and PSU probations.

Every time someone posts that f - ing GIF of the Kenny Bell block I get nauseous as it serves as a reminder of the beat down

Wisky had a pick 6 on your first offensive play, when Bell fell down on a good pass...Wisky had two Tds in first two minutes...

TM also had a legendary run that will be forgotten due to the loss.

Trying to decide which Wisconsin loss was more humiliating. Giving up 70 to a 7-win team in the B1G Championship or letting one guy run for 400+ yards.
And Gordon didn't play in the 4th quarter. Throw in that he was shut down by our defense somehow in the 1st quarter...

Now which is more impressive: Gordon's 400 yards through 3 quarters or Jamaal Charles' 200 yards in the 4th quarter in 2007?

The only Husker game I have ever walked out on (second away game for me), in the second quarter too. That game was so garbage I was embarrassed for the university. I've been seeing games in Lincoln since I was born, probably around 60+ and have never even come close to walking out. We went back to the hotel and because we're Nebraska fans we try and watch the rest on ABC. Until the bitter end drinking a bottle of whiskey. Foreign cab driver from Lucas Oil back to the hotel probably thought we were going to murder/kidnap him. Dark times.

His behavior had lost me long before that game. Obviously Tom thought he could fix the behavior but that performance should have been enough for Tom to cut the rope.
I lost ALL respect for Bo and wanted him fired after his asinine sideline behavior in the Texas A & M game during our last year in the Big 12. He was an out of control head case in that game

I almost went to that game. Glad I backed out. Butthead's Dad really took it to us that night! I actually supported Pelini til the Melvin Gordon show. That was the last straw for me. I think Riley will finally get us over the hump and defeat the Badgers this year. Gonna be another nail biter though!

I don't remember much about that game except for Taylor Martinez's long run early in the game. My biggest memory was of how awkward it was opening up the paper the next morning and finding that several travel agencies, expecting that we would win, had put ads in the paper promoting Rose Bowl packages.

Hopefully no one else will ever bring up a post about this game again after this OP.....

Pretty hard to ignore when BTN runs the replay in prime time. The last Husker game before this that I think I caught on BTN was the loss to Ohio st from this last year.:( All I saw all summer long was OSU and Michigan games.

I would ignore having to post it... If U want to watch it again 100 times by all means go for it...

Just don't remind the rest of the fan base of one of the Darkest days in our programs history.

It was a game and when one team started to roll it went down hill. You guys have been on the winning side of some butt kicking many times. I do think it's funny that when the eventually champion beat you in the championship game, it was the head coach and he should have been fired, but Ohio State ran rough shot it was just the d-cord. Sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug. Beat them this Year.

The one game he was justified to act a fool.

Martinez was wrong and the refs were wrong.

We literally got raped that game.

Tom Hired a HC like he would an assistant coach. Pelini is a DC that needs some oversight.

  • Wisconsin is now #1 in B1G West
  • Won in 2014 and 2016
  • Favorite for 2017

Not exactly anything to be bragging about honestly.

good grief

Wisconsin over the last 11 years (since Alvarez retired) -

7 years with double digit wins -- averaged 9.9 wins per year
3 conference titles - played in 5 conf title games
4 major bowls (Rose x3 + Cotton)
8 New Years Day bowls (Cap One and Outback bowls added to above)
4 top ten finishes

this is despite having had 3 different head coaches during this time span

Our last 11 years hasn't even come close to this and I suspect we won't duplicate this success over the next 11

I think anyone of us would gladly sign up for an 11 year run like Wisconsin has put together.

Yep. And a coach with any class would have reacted with more decorum. I think Osborne would have handled it differently

Turn the TV on watch coaches act a fool every week. EVERY WEEK.

I had no problem with his reaction that day. His players were getting cheated. I would have been disappointed as hell if Tom just sat there and chewed his gum.

Do you think the refs would have treated an Osborne coached team more fairly? Honest question

I looked up the highlights on Youtube last night for a chuckle. Damn, that looked a lot like amateur hour, getting slaughtered against an unranked team like that. Bo was out of his league at Nebraska

They say the true character of a man is judged when things don't go your way. I absolutely had a problem with his frequent outbursts on the sideline. The "I see it every week" excuse is for mediocre people who don't want to stand above the rest.

No. It might have been worse. It had nothing to do with Pelini. Nothing. He was just the coach.

Then again if he was coaching we probably wouldn't have been in that situation. Doubt we leave the conference.

Ok. We get it. You had no issue with Pelini's sideline behavior. Many others did. Including Osborne.

I stand by my criticism of his asinine behavior. We will just have to agree to disagree.

And for the record: Nick Saban is an ass on the sideline too. And were it not for his winning ways, he would be roundly criticized for it. Winning is the great deodorant in sports

+1 - you can debate the last seconds of that Texas game but if those refs wouldn't have sprinted off the field the second that game was over that might have been the last game Bo coached at Nebraska.

Lol. I agree. Bo and Carl were on the warpath at the end of that game.
