I am backing Riles to the hilt. I didn't know if he had it in him. He's making the moves I didn't know he could/would make. He's gotten rid of the guys I didn't want in Lincoln (Hughes, Read, Banker). I want Davis gone next and Cav needs to be put on notice too. But for now I can live with what Riley has done and is going to do moving forward.

I wanna see a splash DC hire. Riley knows this is his last rodeo and I am convinced he's gonna do his absolute best sink or swim. We can see who's not cutting it and he's removing them. Bravo Riles, let's go win!

Why would they wait until now, bless they had someone lined up? I'm excited to see where we go.

It's a good question. I also second the OP. Riley is in it to win it! And that's exciting. It also helps that he is such a great ambassador for the program (unlike the last guy). I hope he is around for a long time and enjoys a lot more success.

My brother not thought is to make sure Avery Roberts arrived in campus. But I don't think either was his recruiter. I hope they have somebody lined up.

Maybe the coach at UCLA that Darnwy committed to? (Light /s)

Better have a plan this close to signing day.

I can't imagine the conversation, and the difficulty of this decision. Football is a business, but a business that evolves into a family. Tough to tell one of your brothers that you love him, but change is needed for the betterment of the entire family. Congratulations are not in order, a thank you even seems wrong.... But the head of the household just made a tough decision and I respect that. GBR!

Riley lost all the credibility I had built in him after the Iowa game. This has certainly changed my opinion of him back the other direction.

Banker wasn't technically fired. His contract wasn't renewed. Sure it may seem like a firing but it makes me wonder if SE wasn't putting the heat on Riley. I am glad the decision was made to not renew the contract. So to think that the decision was made weeks ago would be a stretch in my opinion.

I don't want to get too excited about who the new DC will be as I have been let down in nearly every hiring by the University in the last 5 years or so. I would like to think it would be one of the top position coaches in the NFL. That would bring elite talent to Lincoln. Kids get excited to be coached by guys with NFL experience.

From what I heard......semantics.....

These spread offenses can drive a pro DC up a wall and recruiting can finish them off.

I agree that he is willing to make the tough choices even with his loyal assistants. Now with that said...don't make a mistake with the next two hires!!!
