B1G ADs and the current state of college baseball

I’m neutral. I’ll save my strong opinions for the things I know for sure will benefit Nebraska. Like a later start date and the Big Ten getting itself on a level playing field with the rest of the country when it comes to oversigning.

I really don’t see this proposal helping anyone but the power programs, anyway. I’m sure most Power Five schools would adopt the extra paid assistants but lots of smaller ones would not because they simply don’t have the budget for it. That would create even more intense pressure for an assistant to be drawn to being on staff at one of the “paying” schools. I see it netting out to the rich getting richer.

Great points that I hadn't thought about. I could see southern schools gaining an even bigger advantage.

Personal opinion only: I don’t see Nebraska with 2 current quality assistant coaches so I’m not sure I have confidence Erstad would find a 3rd anyway.

I can respect those comments coolonetoo.

I see it more like....
what if Scott Frost, Erik Chinander, and Troy Walters were the only paid coaches for the football team?
And just for arguement's sake...
there's 11 guys on the field for football, and 9 for baseball.
Why does football need all those extra coaches?
I know, I know the real reasons why. Just having a little fun with this.

But in all seriousness, it's all about getting the student athletes the adequate requirements they need to be successful. No matter the school.
I can sympathize with the financial limits of smaller schools.
If this were to pass, does not mean schools would have to implement it.
But then again, Nebraska is not in a Power 5 conference to make itself equal with smaller schools. Just saying.

Kind of reminds me of the deal the MLB tried to strike with the NCAA a few years ago. Maybe I'm remembering this incorrectly, but the MLB was essentially looking to sponsor one additional scholarship per team, but only if all of the 11.7 scholarships were already accounted for. Obviously it's easier to fill those scholarships than pay an extra assistant, but there would be a scholarship threshold at which some lower D1 teams wouldn't reach (I'm guessing).
