Instead of the squib and giving it to them at the 40?? Maybe they thought some time would run off the clock during the return .. but dang we gave them a pretty good opportunity to win that game

Reminded me of the decision by Gary Barnett when he was at Colorado when playing us in Frank's last year I think. CU went ahead with about 45 seconds left and then squibbed the kickoff giving us great field position. A few passes later from Crouch to Newcombe we are in position for the winning kick. I HATE the squib kick in situations like that.

Hawk fan here. Congratulations on the win! Lord knows, you guys had it coming and deservedly so. I had hoped you would win as Nebraska is my second favorite team behind the Hawks. Now go and stomp Rutgers! BTW, as much as I like the Huskers, I'll be cheering against you when it comes to the Hawks. I wish you much luck moving forward. HCMR did say the kick was mishit. He was supposed to kick it down the " channel " and mishit it and short. I assume that means slightly to one side and if not as deep; harder to handle and organize the return. So it was meant to be more a defensive kick that would burn more time - something I have heard and seen before.

I hate the squib too. I was hoping for one of those sky shots he hits that lands about the 10.
