Athlon Game by Game Picks

Interesting. One guy has us going 2-2 in non-con and then undefeated the rest of the way. Another has us going undefeated in non-con and losing to Wisky, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Sparty.

Just shows nobody knows how this team is going to do yet.

On Paper, you lost your 3 best players last year in Adbullah, Bell, and Gregroy. Adbullah and Bell left as the all time rusher and pass receiver in terms of yards.

Those are massive losses considering your QB play has been inconsistent, although talent is there.

I think your offense is going to take a step back. 8-4 regular season with a 5-3 B1G record. Dont think you have the QB or OL play to be a 10 win regular season team.

Ahh..the one guy says on S Bama and S Miss are gimmees...I disagree..you better beat Purdue and Illinois. Illinois is a train wreck, their coach is a clown, and Purdue's coach is 4-20 in his 2 seasons there.

Don't care they are on the road. Not intimidating places. Purdue can be when they pack it in for a big game but they haven't had one of those in a ling time.

This season can go a lot of different ways (mainly due to the QB play obviously), but I just don't see NU losing both home games to Wisc and MSU. I think they will win at least 1 of those matchups. I could also see them sleepwalk against an average team on the road and lose to Rutgers or Illinois.

If Bo were still the coach, I'd agree with this.

Last I checked NU was favored around 4 TD's against So Miss and South Bama...safe to say those "should" be gimmes.

That is on paper though Spartan. Abdullah is no doubt a huge loss, but Bell and Gregory we can deal with. Gregory wasn't that great against the run, and Bell dropped a lot of balls. Bell was a stud blocker on the edge, and we will definitely miss that, but I actually think on the whole our WR's are better this year. This will be the year the streak of not having a 1000 yard receiver is broken, and it will be....... I'm going with Stanley Morgan as a sleeper and DPE.

Bell played dinged alot the last 2 years - so from productivity in the pass game - we'll be OK. RB - sure we have questions coming off AA but there is talent in the backfield. As far as Gregory - we just need to find a pass rusher on D - our scheme will turn guys loose more....so it might be a combo of guys getting sacks and pressures. The main concern seems to be oline (while LB seems more settled than expected). Depth in both groups will be an issue.

I know....I can talk myself into 7 wins about as easily as 10 wins. The schedule is not that hard - with the 2 toughest conference games at home (and 1 Top 10 team - preseason). Although Wisky has alot of questions too. We all know if the execution improves drastically over the Pelini-era - good things will happen.

Nebraska is loaded at wideout. The effects of losing Bell will be minimal.

Randy Gregory was often rendered useless Because Bo had him in "tackle read" plays on more than 60% of snaps. Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan State exploited this by using their tackles as decoys.

The loss of Ameer Abdullah will certainly be significant. But Nebraska has four 4 Star running backs and a senior with nearly 20 career TDs. If a team can't run the ball with those running backs, they should just give up football.

Defense loses Gregory, but gains Mike Rose back from injury, and the Dline has much mor. Quality depth than anytime in the last 5 seasons.

Keep preaching brother Cornicator. Love the football facts you bring to the board.
