Ott was a good prospect, but unfortunately we only had a fairly small number of scholarships in that class. Two went to DE's, McMullen and Moss (I'd still take either over Ott if I could any two and only those two on my team). It wasn't yet clear just how completely useless our 2010 class of DE's would be (Okuyemi, Vestal, Ashburn).
Iowa and K-State were Ott's only BCS offers. We should have offered, we wound up signing 17 but as always we had room for a couple more.
We certainly should have offered, but it's not like it was obvious to the world that he'd become a legitimate starter. So far he's had a better career than Sam Cotton but it's not like it had to be only one or the other.
Ott was overlooked, different story from Phillips who got an offer in June before his senior year.
