Are we recruiting a kicker? We should be....

Uh, no. DONT learn from brown........
51 –– Junior kicker Drew Brown connected on a career-long 51-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, bettering his 50-yard field goal against Southern Miss in 2015.

·Brown also connected on a 30-yard field goal in the second quarter and missed a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. He is now 7-of-9 on the season and has 42 career field goals made. Made 18 of last 20, put 4 of 6 KO's through the endzone for touchbacks. Ya, why would we want anyone to learn from Brown???:(

Bo recruited Drew Brown in the 2014 class as a sholarship kicker.

In Riley's 2015 class we gave a scholarship to a punter, a kicker and a snapper. Only one of which (Ober) sees the field.

We then gave a scholarship to Lightbourne in the 2016 class.

That's 5 scholarships to specialists on the books for next year.

Don't see how we can justify another scholarship spent on kicking this class.

God Bruce Read sucks.

Were are you getting that? Brown, Ober and Lightbourne are the only specialists on schollie...if you are talking about Sutcliffe (sp?) he was/is a walk-on.

Yep. My mistake. The commitment list also had Issac Armstrong as a scholarship guy, but both of their Huskers.com bios say walkon.

their talking about the relationship with Josh Brown of course. one cannot choose their family. knock it off

With Sutcliffe/Lindsay being seniors and Brown being a senior in 2017, it'll be interesting to see what they do this February or will they wait until the next class?

I bet he does, it just sucks we don't have a lot of scholarships to give out this year.
I bet we take a full class of 25 this year. I know Riley said 22, but my guess is 3 more will be saved for guys that you accept commits from no matter what. But, there are so many holes to fill, they may not have room for any specialists.

Oh my, how the perception of Drew Brown has changed in two seasons. The fans are fickle. Might Lightbourne be next?

I was just commenting last week how pleasantly surprised I've been with Brown's consistency. When he first started kicking here, I was a little concerned that he didn't have much accuracy and also not a big leg as it seemed like his max was around 40 yards early on. Well, he's proven me wrong. He not only has a nice leg but he's mighty accurate. Glad he's on the team for another year.

Cleveland Browns are pissed about this thread.

Worry and doubt is fine. There was a significant contingent on here clamoring to "yank his scholarship" his freshman year. I thought it was ludicrous and unfair. Oh well, I think he has proven them wrong, and like you, I'm glad he is around now and next year.

He improved with time, as do most collegiate and high school athletes. The talent and ability was there (along with having a brother who was an NFL kicker).
