Still early but they don't seem close to the team they have been the last two years.

Dillon Gabriel (freshman) won the starting job after the Stanford game. Honestly hasn’t looked good since then. When pressured he makes mistakes, has no run ability and hasn’t learned how to go through progressions if the primary receiver isn’t open.

We REALLY miss Frosts offensive play calling. He knew how to utilize speed in the skill positions better than anyone. Our current coach knows nothing except to run a 165lb back up the middle or throw the deep pass.

Frost will make Nebraska what it used to be. He’s a great coach both on and off the field. Wish we still had him. Good luck this year, we’re rooting for you guys and Frost!

Can we make this post a sticky so all our fans can see this?

Yeah no kidding, that QB can't run at all! He is costing me money!

With that said, my bookie is probably happy!

UCF is going to have more talent than anybody in their "conference" because of their location. They play a weak set of power 5 teams, no fault of their own, and so they can win a lot of games relatively easily. Reason they have been in multiple BCS games recently. Florida is very weak right now collectively, they have a great opportunity to get into a conference if they want to...they just need to guts to play some 2 for 1 against some real teams...

Their board is, naturally following a loss like this, in flame mode. Many do not like the Josh Heupel offensive system.

Possibly, but they're also recruiting against every team in the country - including all of the major powers - who raid Florida every year for their outstanding talent. Cincinnati is also in a good spot right now as they're getting some of the players OSU doesn't go after (along with Kentucky).

Yeah, but they were loving it when they pounded the Trees earlier this season, Cincy is a good team, and UCF did their best Nebraska imitation with their turnovers, not going to win like that!

Look for Fickell to get offered a major HC position in the next 2 to 3 years. He's done a super job at Cincy. MSU maybe after Dantonio retires/leaves ?

Michigan should can Harbarf, the big talker, and hire Luke.

Unless you are Bama or Ohio State or Clemson (littered with 4-5 star depth), playing true freshman means you could be good but you will not be great. You might end up average or worse. The QB position defines everything about your team, with the way most offenses are now run. When you replace a heisman-level QB with a true freshman their is going to be a big drop off in execution. They may have good skills but all their bad tendencies and decisions come to light and seem to get amplified on the road as well.

Not even storied, stacked programs like Auburn are immune. In a nuetral site game against Oregon Nix went 13/31 for 244 yds with 2 TDs and 2 Int's....he threw a TD with 9 seconds left to get Auburn the win. Nix went 8/20 for 110 yds and a TD on the road against Texas A&M.....somehow Auburn still found a way to win. Today against Florida on the road, Nix was 11/27 for 145 yds with 1 TD and 3 Int's....they lost.

People can blame the QB, the coaching, adjustments, etc.... but like in anything you pursue in life like a job, kids, a spouse, hobbies, sports, etc... the first year you do them you are learning, and a work in progress. You just have to hope hard work and all that experience makes you better. It doesn't always work out due to a myriad of reasons. Hopefully by next season the game has slowed down and Gabriel can execute the offense much better. I guess we'll see.

As for Milton, last interview I saw with him he indicated he's not even due to start jogging until like January. He's done. I highly doubt he's ready for the physicality of the game by late August. He needs to just focus on being able to walk again....he's got a long life ahead of him and he doesn't need to risk an injury that could cost him his leg. He'll probably turn into a good coach. That's basically what he is now. He knew our offense inside and out. He might find a way to get into a game and take a knee or something like that.
