Isn't looking at the problem in detail

Consider the following pro-Riley points
  • Riley has hired our best group of assistant coaches since TO, we have young energetic teachers of the game that can relate to today's student athlete.
  • Riley brought in a big name DC
  • The talent is trending up. Only CB/S have players that don't appear to have an equal on the roster in the Fr or RS Fr classes.
  • This is his 3rd year, that isn't enough time to turn a program around that had as many documented problems. He has signed 3 classes and the first was a salvage job.
  • The BIG is significantly improved, when Bo came in OSU, PSU and Michigan were a mess. We had a window and didn't take advantage of it. Now we are look much more like a mid-level team than a top tier team. I don't know that we got worse or if the world around us got better.
  • We are exactly the team Vegas thought we would be given the number of players moving on (6.5 season win total)
Also consider the following Fire-RIley point
  • Results, Results, Results
  • N. Illinois
  • Do not see the toughness and will to win we long to see as fans.
  • NU is inconsistent in all areas.
  • Our offensive coordinator seems to be calling plays, not coordinating a well thought our series of plays designed to attack favorable match ups.
  • Riley clearly didn't hire the right guys from the jump, we "wasted some time" with guys he brought in from OSU that should have never been here in the first place.
I'm seriously torn, I like the staff Riley has put together and three years isn't enough time. Before the fourth quarter last night I was in the Pro-RIley camp. How we could let that happen in our building leaves me questioning the foundation. On the other hand there are many coaches that have struggled in year 3. Year three for a coach many times is a natural talent divide between the end of one staff and start of another.

We need to let this all play out trying to be positive, things will become more clear as the season wears on. Here is to better days ahead.
