I haven't yet, but hoping for a good year. Need some rain. Anyone want to share favorite spots?

No morels yet. Lilacs are blooming? Seems like we could find some. Going out next weekend.

Lilacs have been blooming for at least a week. I have not been out. Not sure if I will have time this year.

I've never had any luck with morrell mushroom hunting.
My car ran out of gas just outside of Council Bluffs and I took a shortcut along a treeline to get to a gas station and I got guns pulled on me by three morrell mushroom hunters.

In broad daylight.

My wife thinks I stumbled upon a meth lab, but I could tell they were hunters because of their camouflage outfits.

Southern Neb. maybe, but I doubt that there's anything to be found north of I-80. It's been too dry. Need to catch a couple rains and then a couple warmer days. You'll see a lot of them coming up then.

If we get the rain we are supposed to tomorrow morning they'll pop once it hits 70 degrees. Won't tell you ky spots. One time me and my dad and uncle pulled our guns on somebody who was simply trying to get to a gas station.

Sounds like a good move.

Not buying it, they use a bow to hunt those.

You guys roll hard.

Didn't realize these mushrooms are homicide worthy

You have never had them then. Not worth killing over if you're on public land but when it's private they are. My post was in jest but I wonder if a few understood it. I would never hunt on private land that's not mine. That would be suicide. Especially in Iowa. Only reason c2o didn't catch a bullet is he didn't have a bag full of morels let alone a handful.

Seriously are they worth anything like "truffles?"
I mean what's the catch here????

Nature. Time with Dad. Then you fry up your find and grill a T-bone and have one of the best meals you'll ever have. You only get 2 to 3 weeks of this a year. If you want them in October and you don't have any dried out you're paying 20 bucks a pound.

Okay, thanks for the response!
I live in MN, will have to try this!
