It's not high-tech at all, but I bought this Cuisinart Griddler for my Mom several years ago and we found it to be versatile and - importantly - easy to clean (removeable grill plates and drippings cup that can go in the dishwasher).

Nice thing is when I drink beer while i'm grilling...which is like...99.6548% of the time...and it's 5 degrees....my beer gets colder when I sit it down outside!! So that's nice.
