Was he as mad this week as he was last week? Still plenty of stuff he couldn't have been happy about. Some of the same stupid stuff he was mad about last week.

Man, I'm right there with you. Lots of stupid mistakes that shouldn't have happened. We'll see how this staff can deal with this communication problem. I'm hopeful.

on the radio he didn't sound mad, but he wasn't super upbeat either.. he sounded matter of fact, all business.

NU fans need to face up to reality. When was the last time we had a husker team that had few penalties, few turnovers, ran the ball well, caught most passes, blocked well, got pressure on the qb. We have not won a conference title in 19 years! We have been a mediocre program for 14 years... I fully expect us to play like we did today, since we have done so pretty consistently for the last 120 games. I can count 5 games in the last 100 where we looked like a top team. NU fans need to be happy we won by 35 regardless of opponent. We are going to lose at least 4 games this year, and it will probably be a successful season. Just reality, we are a mediocre program, slightly above average players and coaches, with below average depth, and really great fans and facilities. Sadly great fans and facilities don't play against OSU on the road.

Yah, part of it is the fishbowl. There are several highly rated teams who struggled more than we did or have already outright lost to inferior teams.

Outside of Bama and Houston, I've not personally seen consistent play from anyone yet this fall. We don't have to freak out.

Careful, around here "reality" mixes with red koolaid about as well as oil & water.

Can't disagree. Would like to, but...

We won. Let that sink in. We freakin' won. I know it's a disappointment. We won. It didn't go as you planned. We went ahead and won the damn game. We won. I just wish we had lost this game just for you. We won. We won the game. Who would've believed that against Wyoming. We won. Every time that Gerry cradled that ball when he missed one catch. We won. From the first snap to the last. We won. Feels good, mang.

Mediocre? Hardly. While we haven't won a conference title since Frank, a whole bunch of other teams haven't. We played for one under Cally and two under Pelini. Mediocre, at times. Good, yes. Excellent, at times.

You beat me to it. I was going to ask when the last "nearly perfect" game was by the Huskers. It certainly has been a while. Maybe one would have to go back to the 90's? By perfect I would say five or less penalties and those of the small variety. Keep teams pinned with kicking game. No fumbles lost, no INT's. Win time of possession. Have a fumble or two and an INT. Hold opponent to less than 150 on the ground - remember when 100 was a gold standard. Pass for 200, rush for 250. How is that? When was it?

We were 5-25 against ranked opponents under Bo, and then 6-7 last year. We only "win" because we played in power puff leagues pretty much from 2008 until 2016. Throw in a ton of blow out losses in primetime. Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin have been better than us when it comes to big wins, BCS bowl appearances, and even record. That puts us at 6th in the traditional big 10...I would call that mediocre. Not bad, but average. Our record is ballooned by playing MWC, SUNBELT, and FCS foes without end.

He's been like this for a few weeks now. Actually since coach Williams arrest he's been all business.

Good point. His tone did seem to change back then. I don't think it is any cause for concern, it's just a lot of moving parts to try to keep under control and going in a positive direction. He knows we have to continue to get better.

I agree. So far we're 2-0 against inferior teams but we blew both out and have improved each game. The personal foul penalties are a problem but IMO the pre snap penalties were a bigger problem. And we have improved in that area. I keep asking have the calls been like this for other games? Or is this just Mountain West officiating trying to keep Nebraska from being aggressive? Because the Personal foul calls have been pretty ticky tack IMO.

A great quote I remember from Carl Peleni " I never apologize for a win"

I will take the unders on that 4 loss bet.

Unfortunately I agree. We all keep hanging onto hope this once great program will turn that corner and return to greatness. Same song and dance year after year. High hopes, then reality sets in by game 5 or 6, just another average team. We need to start realizing that after almost 2 decades of crappy team after crappy team,we are just an average team and more than likely always will be. A 9 win season is now the best we will get. Eventually all of us that have lived through the great years, will be replaced by those that have never seen it. Nebraska football will be an after thought, a blip on the college football radar. A team that once was but will never be again. Yes it sounds gloom and doom, but it is becoming reality weather we all want to accept it or not. Just take a step back, we are living in a time where everyone is excited about playing the #22 in the country. Hoping we can get a win, if we can many will consider that a "huge" win. Really? That should show how bad it has gotten

What the hell?

I don't think I've ever read a more defeated post than this! This is the dumbest thing I've read... How long was Notre Dame down before they finally have made a comeback? How long did it take USC before they finally broke through with Pete Carroll? What about Ohio State before Tressel? Alabama before Saban? I could go on...

Why do you think we fired a coach who won 9 games a season? Because it wasn't good enough! If Riley doesn't get it done, we will go after the next guy. Nebraska won't go away like you predict here. We will be back.

9 wins is the best we will ever get again? "20 years of crappy teams" as you put don't mean it will be that way forever... I've never desired to revoke anybody's fan card, but if I could, yours would be gone. This is ridiculous!

Let's just shut the program down then, huh? I mean why keep pouring money into something that will never produce fruit?
And really, why do you bother following a team that is so downtrodden? Are you some kind of masochist? This has to literally be the most stupid, asinine, waste of space on a computer screen I have seen in 13 years on this board. And that's saying a lot. Reality, huh? Well, nobody made you God. You don't get to decide what is reality. Go away, find another team that pleases you, quit the blind negative crap and leave the real fans alone. You are a thorough and complete embarrassment that you even dare to wear the name "Husker" for your screen name.

For real... Never seen anything like this from a "fan"...

I do think Husker2612 is legitimately a fan, he's been around long enough I don't think he's a troll. But man, this is bad...

I think he thinks he's a fan, but he's probably been living a lie all his life. No fan of any team says that kind of stuff. It's like he grew up as a fan and wishes he hadn't and is trying to find someway to convince himself to leave. I hope he does. I'm not exaggerating either when I say it is the stupidest post I have seen in more than 13 years on here. I would also add on any message board. Never have I read such defeatist nonsense anywhere.
I have been saying it for years, and I will reiterate it again. There is not one program in this country that can't be successful and compete for national championships if they get the right coach. Not one. The right coach is always the factor. And if any other program can be successful with the right coach, we sure as heck can with our history, tradition, and fan support. We can argue all we want whether Riley is the answer. I mean, I will argue with and vehemently disagree with anyone who is just sure that Riley will never get anything done here, but at least with somebody like that there is an inherent assumption that if we get the right coach, we can compete for championships again. With the kind of nonsensical defeatist attitude displayed with the post above, there's not even any point in arguing who our coach should be. And really again, if it really is so hopeless, then why should we keep pouring money down a hole when we know we are wasting our time? I could have at least a slim bit of respect for that kind of total defeatist attitude if they would take it to the logical conclusion and argue for eliminating the program, or maybe dropping down to the FCS level where maybe he thinks we could compete better. Of course that's ridiculous in the extreme too, but at least that would make a little bit of sense instead of suggesting that we as fans and many wealthy boosters are going to continue to spend millions of dollars in vain on a program that will never win to the level we want it to.

There is a difference between expecting the "2016" team to be great, and expecting us to be great again in the future. All great programs go through decades of struggle, and ours is intensified for a lot of reasons. My main premise was that we should not expect to be great just because we are Nebraska. We do not invest into football like Michigan, Alabama, Texas, OSU. I know we do not cheat like those programs, and I know we do not spend the resources to recruit like those programs. We cheat a little, and spend some on lavish things for players but we do not go all out, and we are not all in. We were ALL IN in every department from 1990-1997. Our coaches and players did TERRIBLE things and were not honest, and did not follow the competitive rules of the game. And that made us great. Take the 94 team and remove a Frazier, a Peter bro, and Phillips, and some other half dozen starters who were arrested ...cut the walkon program and change juco rules iand we would have been a 9-10 win team. My HOPE stems from the inevitable bubble that will pop surrounding academics, HGH, handouts, and university spending. OSU, MIchigan, Alabama will lose scholarships, coaches, and money when they are caught...if the game cleans up we will be in a position to excel, if it stays dirty, and 100% money driven without focus of graduation rates then we will be lumped into the bottom 75% if teams who are average.
