On the final play after Cook threw the pass out of bounds Collins stuck Cook in the back. It was a bit late and not a bad hit, but they could have called a ticky-tac roughing penalty as a "make up" call. That would have put the ball on the 26 with no time left.

Been waiting since I saw the replay right afterwards for MSU fans to bring that up and claim they should have got one more play 15 yards downfield.

Way to many calls went against NU in the game

When we needed it we were the beneficiary

how about those jackasses on the Neb sideline who were reaching up and trying to catch that Conner Cook pass out of bounds ... had the pass been a bit lower and one of those guys caught the ball the clock may have been stopped earlier

What if NU had scored 100, since it's stupid "what if" day.

Nebraska is lucky a meteor didn't hit the planet and wipe everyone out, boy are they lucky.

What if MSU got called on their multiple offensive and defensive pass interference's?

Relax Jimmy. It's a football board. People are talking about football, including some of the "oh sht" moments as we were desperately trying to close out a game, which is something that has alluded this team this year.

I've decided Husker.Wed has convinced me that Nebraska does not deserve the win, so I am immediately calling for the school to forfeit the win and give it back to Michigan State. I will begin a hunger strike immediately until this is completed.

These are dumb, if you're going to post this garbage, post both sides.
Since you seem to be so angry (and I don't know why, is everything alright with you?) let me explain. After reviewing the game tape twice, as I always do, there is no doubt both teams were intense, and the officials called an extremely loose game. This game was somewhat unique in that on almost every play I could see something that could have been called. So yes, the "what ifs" are endless. HOWEVER - this potential situation really caught my eye since it was the last play, the hit was late and there is an official in the backfield that is there specifically to look for it, Collins looped way around to make the hit so was very visible running in, the officials may have been feeling they owed MSU a makeup call, there were potentially some thoughts by the officials at the end there that one of the B1G unbeaten was going down, so they had to make sure everything was called at the end to make the MSU loss squeaky clean.

Maybe the title of my post "another way" was not chosen well since I believe we deserved to win the game, but if you go back to your recording and look at the last play, and still think we aren't damn lucky we weren't flagged, then I guess we have t disagree.

Someone have a different angle then what was shown on TV? Looks to me like Cook was barely touched as Collins pulls up and Cook falls over his OL that was on the ground. Regardless, very strange thread.
Idiotic thread.

Look at the last replay from the endzone view where they put the clock in the lower left. As far as strange thread, the same thing I thought yesterday where people were posting whether their hail was dime-sized or quarter-sized.

Link it up then. Nobody said a word about quarter size hail in that thread but don't let that fact stop your weak and pathetic agenda.

The only thing I find curious is that the officials didn't go to the review booth to determine if there was a second left or not, unlike Texas. They simply determined on the field and it was game over. I don't know what the standard protocol is on that, but it was interesting to me.

It's possible they got the thumbs up from the booth before walking off the field. The booth buzzes them if they think they need some time to review.

I watched the replay from the angle you are talking about. First of all, your thread title saying Nebraska is "lucky" it wasn't called, at least from my point of view, implies it should have been called and wasn't. I don't see it. I see what you are saying, about how a ref looking for a make up call could have decided to use that, but he would have been on very thin ice. As bad as the B1G refs have been this season, and were in that game, this isn't our final season in the Big 12, and I'm fairly certain Greg Burks was nowhere near the field.

1st off, you have to realize you're watching that replay in slow motion. At normal speed, and you can even see it in the slow motion replay, you would see that when Collins starts to wind up to make the hit, Cook has just started his throwing motion, meaning there was no reason yet for him to slow up.

2nd, he really hits nearly instantly after his release. Again the slow motion kinda messes up the perspective here, but you can see he's still following through on the throw when the hit occurs.

3rd, the hit is relatively minor, little more than a light shove. If not for the pile of lineman in front of him, he probably takes one steadying step forward and nothing more. As it is, he kinda just lightly falls on the pile in front of him.

Also telling is the fact he doesn't appear to try and lobby the refs for a flag, and most any quarterback I've seen will cry until the cows come home to the ref if they think there is anything even remotely approaching a late or excessive hit.

I noticed the head official look to the sideline and the review guy (I assume it was him) had given the thumbs up. Earlier in the game, I believe it was the Moore catch at the 1-ish, that same game had his hand out as a "hold on" sign.

MSU defender should have been ejected for targeting on Westerkamp but this crew let them play ball for a change imo.

All good points, I will review again tonight.

Agreed, clearly intentional helmet to helmet there, and why not? Take out the best receiver who had just torched them on two straight plays, and only risk a possible penalty and ejection, and with the way the refs had called the whole game, wasn't taking much of a risk.

weak and pathetic agenda.
Huh? I'm not seeing how posting something I am interested in talking about (a potential penalty) is any more "strange" than you posting something you want to talk about (hail) is having an "agenda", much less it being weak and pathetic.

Shall I add up MSU lucky plays? The 3rd down tipped pass in the first half should have ended in a punt. The off setting pass interference call was another terrible call, the missed pass interference on 82. Go ahead give me a total count of luck on either side please.

There's been a lot of sentiment on the board this week that Nebraska was lucky to win last Saturday. I can (kind of) understand that, if you consider that one game in a vacuum. Instead, can we look at our "luck" over the totality of the season, and reevaluate this assumption? There hasn't been a plethora of good luck this year. In fact, this is one of the most unlucky seasons I can ever remember.

This is like questioning if a one eyed, three legged, flea covered dog deserves a treat. Just stop.

Don't play stupid...

I thought yesterday where people were posting whether their hail was dime-sized or quarter-sized.

There was no talk of quarter-sized hail, there was little talk at all about what size the hail was. If you can't figure out why this thread is strange, after all the responses, you......well, forget it, you won't get it regardless.

Isn't it the replay official's responsibility to signal the ref on the field? If no signal comes, then game over. At least that's what I've been thinking...

If that is the case, then the replay booth must have checked it fast and said no reason to signal the refs on the field.
