Amy Williams v Connie Yori

I will just quote my own post from an earlier thread. To update they finished 18-15 and won two in the WNIT before getting bounced.
I can't really speak for Yori but I do think Williams is a really good coach. If they could have stayed healthy I think they were a tournament team this year.
amy is more bangable...and that is important to this board.

It’s a moot point Yori was canned for not being upfront on a number of issues she had when the Administration started to o ask Questions.
Smashing Scoggins is a much better name for a band than the Smashing Pumpkins.
Yori was a LOT better coach. No excuse for not being able to recruit better here.
Watching teams in the tournament shows me how slow Amy’s team is. Forgive me but we are too white. We haven’t been very athletic with leaping ability in the paint for quite a few years. I know girls can jump, they do in volleyball.
To many international players, sure doesn’t look like she can recruit very good in the states
We probably ate too slow, but the too White comment, Iowa going to the final four has 5 white girls on the floor 90% of the time.
Um no. Jazz Shelly is our best guard by far and extremely quick. Losing Ivey was a big deal and while we have some size we lacked that 6’5” shot blocker. Amy is a damned good coach.
Connie Yori is the winningest coach in women’s basketball at the university with a record of 280-166, she averaged 20 wins a year. Angela Beck is second with a record of 191-128, she averaged 19 wins a year. Amy Williams record 112-97, for an average of 16 wins a year. Really doesn’t matter whether one agrees with the firing of Connie, the point is you don’t replace your winningest coach, who followed the previous winningest coach, with a mediocre to average coach.
For Amy to equal Angela’s 10 year record, she would need to average 26.3 wins a season in the next three seasons. For her to match Connie’s 14 year record, she would need to average 24 wins a season for the next seven seasons. From what we have seen in her seven seasons at Nebraska, she is not capable of putting together a roster that can win that many games consistently.
Yori was a winning coach but not a person I would have wanted my daughter to play for. I’ll take Amy over Connie every time

Well Connie hasn’t been here for seven years, so it’s a moot point. Amy is paid $600,000+ to put a good product on the court, I’m sure they are grateful that she is nice, but that’s not what they are paying her for. She is overpaid for what she is giving the fans, she is a barely above .500 coach. She has a 22-7 and a 21-11 season, after that she has 17-13, 18-15, 13-13, 14-16 and 7-22.
The point wasn’t whether Connie was nice or if she should have been kept. The point is you had the two winningest coaches in school history and have followed that up with someone who will just limp along and maybe throw in a good season every four or five years.
Some things happened that made it so that Coach Yori couldn't stay. There was no keeping her at that time. Amy needs to be able to lock up top in state talent as in the coming years, there will be plenty more coming through. And yes, she needs to get a few more kids who are athletes #1 and basketball players #1A
No she is not a good coach. She can't recruit worth a shit. Her players don't improve, especially in the fundamentals. Yori was a great coach.
Jazz is the greatest in her head. I am SO tired of no look turnovers. She thinks she has to show she is magic johnson every single pass. I hate when she made a great pass because I knew that meant two turnovers were coming quickly. But I think again that is Amy's fault, make the kid make the simple great pass. Her vision is great it is the fact she thinks every good pass has to be no look.
Hate to agree, but you don't see improvement. I realize your 5 player can hit 3s but isn't her job down low?
amy will be a average coach won’t lose enough to get fired but won’t win much more. I know Fred is getting one more chance but like frost it probably is a mute point

not true....except for dunking and men v. women athleticism, it is a purer game to watch....and I LOVE the men's game....without denigrating the womens'
There was nothing pure about that LSU vs Io_a game. The officiating was awful. Thuggery and traveling on virtually every play. Mulkey got away with murder. She should have been T’d up multiple times. Weak weak officiating that affected the game’s integrity
