Ameer Abdullah punt returner?

He did a lot of our punt returning in his freshman and sophomore years. He was pretty good at it, other than the fumbling. But he fumbled too much, especially while returning punts.

If he's figured out how to hold onto the ball--and he got a lot better about that his senior year as a running back--then he definitely should get a look as a punt returner.

Actually, Ameer got a lot better holding onto the ball after he cut his dreadlocks. That was cause #1 behind those fumbles.

Nebraska needed him to run the football. That's why they didn't have him return punts the last few seasons.

He was a damn good returner. But after Rex went down he needed to concentrate on being our running back.

He can do it all.
He isn't very good at pass protection, which is kind of silly because of his great lateral quickness + his fearlessness. Dude should never not be able to get is body in front of someone coming at him.

One of the times I noticed where he was not a great blocker was against Wisconsin. Not sure if he was always a poor blocker like that instance, but I remember him injuring one of his knees late against Purdue. He was practically blocking on one leg and running on 1.5 legs the rest of the season, until a month's rest for the USC game. He was completely banged up the rest of the season. That said, the dude is tough as nails I think he will come along as well. Whatever they ask him to do, he'll be up for the challenge.
