The schedule was made years ago. They simply went from 9 opponents to 8. Dropped team was on the original 9 game schedule known throughout Scott Frost era.
Problem is they want to maintain the Indiana/Purdue rivalry so they assigned everyone else a “rival” for 6 years. A lot of them are relatively evenly matched programs. Iowa/Penn State, Michigan/Wisconsin, Nebraska/OSU are the headliners. No favor for Nebraska in the next rotation as they will get Michigan. Wisconsin will get OSU. Iowa has Rutgers. The crossovers are crucial for the west title more often than not.The problem is cross over rivalry‘s.Nobody needs to play the same team in the opposite division for 6 years in a row..
Play 3 games in the other division and rotate off the schedule every year...
