Negative - NU is playing two true freshman on the DL against a league opponent in the first game.It was princewill
Lot of #11 out there in the 4th quarter
Committed the face mask on 4th down and got beat on a qb run on 3rd and medium

Assuming we can keep themNegative - NU is playing two true freshman on the DL against a league opponent in the first game.
Positive (next year) - NU is playing two true freshman on the DL against a league opponent in the first game last year and now those guys are starting.
The defense came up short at the end, but competed all game with a number of new faces. Compared to last year when they couldn't get lined up correctly until Busch took over, it's a big improvement.
Big ten official love the offensive lines of every team NU plays.Facemask: Can't turn your body to make a play when you're getting held
After what Javin Wright has gone through in his time in Lincoln (season ending injury, followed by blood clots requiring surgery the following season), it was great seeing him have a good stat sheet for the game. They rotated a ton of guys in on both sides. Worked pretty well on the D side.
Yes, and if there is a game where he can sit for a half, it's CU.Remind me how this works. Is Ty now suspended for the first half of the CU game?
So he will lose his blackshirt this week? As he should given the incompetence of his mistake.
I don't believe a single holding flag was thrown all gameFacemask: Can't turn your body to make a play when you're getting held

Thought I saw Mikai Gbayor out there. I forgot he was on the roster. After what Javin Wright has gone through in his time in Lincoln (season ending injury, followed by blood clots requiring surgery the following season), it was great seeing him have a good stat sheet for the game.

Definitely a targeting penalty, but an ejection for something like that is weak, imo.Curious about peoples thoughts on the targeting ejection. Agree or disagree? He obviously gave the QB a shove… But that helmet to helmet call, well, technically accurate, seemed pretty weak.
just go back to the 15 yard penaltyCurious about peoples thoughts on the targeting ejection. Agree or disagree? He obviously gave the QB a shove… But that helmet to helmet call, well, technically accurate, seemed pretty weak.
Should never be ejected for making a football play after 1 offense. Throw 'egregious' judgment out of it because it just doesn't work and wouldn't trust the refs to get it right anyway. A 2 offense ejection might actually make sense which is why the NCAA will never implement it.Definitely a targeting penalty, but an ejection for something like that is weak, imo.
EDIT: 2 of those then you can be ejected.
Needs to be more egregious to justify an ejection after 1 offense.
He completely stuck that guy. It was great to see special teams have some guys out there hitting. Especially some guys we haven’t heard anything about for years. He looked like a dude. Hopefully he can find his way into the field eventually.made a nice tackle on kick coverage
Callahan said in their postgame podcast that they played 18 guys on the first defensive possession. When’s the last time we played 18 guys on D?They rotated a ton of guys in on both sides. Worked pretty well on the D side.
It was a good call.Curious about peoples thoughts on the targeting ejection. Agree or disagree? He obviously gave the QB a shove… But that helmet to helmet call, well, technically accurate, seemed pretty weak.
I watched Wallin run, he is slower than mud.Believe it was Wallin.
I only saw the replay on the big screen on the other side of the field. I couldn’t quite tell if he led with the crown of his helmet. If he did, then it’s clear. It was a good call.
It was a stupid mental error. Really what he was doing was putting his face in the QBs grill to say "I'm here and coming again" before giving him a shove. No real risk of a concussion but it is the rules and totally unnecessary in a tight game. Use your head to think rather than to be a bonehead, Ty.Curious about peoples thoughts on the targeting ejection. Agree or disagree? The worst part is he has run his mouth about being the leader and getting in people's face etc. The "leader" then makes the mistake. The good thing for us is the D as a whole didn't drop off. I thought they might pound it at us right after that and they didn't.It was a stupid mental error. That gets called EVERY time (especially on a QB). It hurts but we have no argument on that call.It was weak but it’s the rule and completely unnecessary. It’s his responsibility to play within rules. Agree it’s weak for what we think of football but it is what it is from a rule standpoint. Definitely didn’t seem like the spirit of the rule for ejections. In hindsight if you are going to get tossed … you may as well bring the boom!
I hear ya. I do think there are times, though rare, where a player launches or goes legit head hunting and should be ejected.Should never be ejected for making a football play after 1 offense. that should be celebratedI hear ya. I do think there are times, though rare, where a player launches or goes legit head hunting and should be ejected.
If it's a legitimate spear and launch and knocks a player out cold, then maybe... but those are extremely rare. Anything less than that standard for ejection then you're playing games with review and judgment and slowing the whole game down for no good reason.I hear ya. Would have been weaker if Ty had not dipped his helmet into the QB's mask. That tells me he had some degree of control and used poor judgement.Curious about peoples thoughts on the targeting ejection. Agree or disagree?
