I don't know..., we lived on the B 12 basement steps our last three years there. Maybe 3rd in the five year standings here is about all we should have expected.

I am disappointed we haven't broken through for a title yet but we definitely are a team to reckon with in the Big Ten. Last year... oof! Last year, had we held to our average W/L record (ex last year's), we would be 2nd today 2 1/2 games out. Oh well.

We are starting to see the Erstad recruits as a whole now. I enjoyed guys like Darby and Headley but they were like emotional rollercoasters. I believe I heard that this senior class is the first Erstad had some hand in. Obviously Rev is his recruit. The freshman and sophomores are who I'm really excited about. Miller will most likely come back and we will lose Boldt, Burkamper, and possible Knutson depending on their offers. Overall a lot of talent coming down the pipe.

Yeah, 5 years ago....
B1G Baseball is talking about going to a summer league.
No NCAA nothing.
So I understand the frustration of joining B1G Baseball.
But it's 5 years later.
And what we are seeing now...
is the development of a respectable baseball conference.
7th out of 31 conferences in RPI.
Turn on your television to a BTN Baseball game,
that does not involve Nebraska...
B1G ballparks across the conference are filling up with fans.
I don't have attendance numbers, but you can see it with your own eyes.
You can also see the renovations these B1G ballparks are getting.
B1G Baseball is growing.
New fans are being made and possibilities are in the air.
No need to tear it down. It's already been there, done that.
And if the conference has progressed this far in 5 years...
what can another 5 years bring this conference?
Maybe competing for 4th in conference RPI rankings....
But the B1G/BTN does need to step up their game.
The conference needs to promote it's members past March.
This is where BTN is behind every other Power 5 Conference network.
When all 14 SEC Baseball teams are ranked in the Top 10...
Not all of them are deserving,
but they are all getting the television exposure multiple times a week.
Every other Power 5 Conference Network shows college baseball many times a week.

The argument Jim Delaney will give,
is that the B1G is trying to build their internet subscriptions.
aka BTN Plus / BTN To Go.
And there's the battle.
B1G Baseball is being pushed for Internet sales.
When B1G fans already have to pay for Cable/Satellite access...
for games/sports they were told they would receive.
**The rest of this rant was self-deleted, for everyone's benefit**

Regardless, despite the hurdles,
Nebraska needed the B1G to help rebuild as well.
And it seems like everything is starting to come together....
It wasn't on everyone's time frame, but here we are.
May is important again.

I, too, am a bit disappointed there hasn't been a title yet (a chronic problem in all NU men's sports since joining the Big Ten). But conference hardware is not what it's all about for me. I'm good with finishing second and making a regional.

I'll take consistency over peaks and valleys. Purdue and Minnesota have won the league during our time here. But they each had one good season among four mostly garbage ones. Purdue has been so bad the winningest coach in program history just quit.

After five more seasons I will be shocked if this list has any two teams at the top (in either order) other than Indiana and Nebraska. It's clear to me they are most built for success over the long haul.

I might throw tOSU in there and maybe Illinois.

I think the progression of the conference is clear though. When we first joined the league this was a #10-15 RPI league consistently.

Almost every program has made significant investments in the past decade. Hopefully they will continue and the more teams that make the postseason the more they will be pushed

Agree with this, I would almost add Ohio State to that list as well. I believe they have made the Big Ten Tourney every year since we joined along with Nebraska and Indiana.

I still think Northwestern should do us all a favor and just drop baseball. I would say Purdue as well but it appears they may actually care after the old man stepped down the other day.

The reason for the drop-off at Minnesota since Nebraska joined is that the old Siebert field was a dump. The baseball facilities have been upgraded, so I won't be surprised if Minnesota will be more consistant.
