I did not want this to get lost in the long Adrian thread. I wanted people to know what a really great guy Adrian was.
Adrian was my favorite Husker of all time. I remember when he played yes I am that old but I was young when he was on the team. I want to tell you all what a class act he was and what a great guy Adrian was even when other people were not around.
I met Adrian in 1968 when he was a player at Nebraska. I remember when I was in college and all the partying I did. It is all I thought about for the most part since I was young and did not know any better. Well Adrian when he was playing for the Huskers came to an Orphanage in Omaha one day and he had a date. I was in the Orphanage and Adrian took another kid and me out for the night to a local high school basketball game.
I can't begin to tell you how I hated that Orphanage and the time I was there. But I can tell you the best day I ever had there was when a Cornhusker Football player showed up and took us out on his date and let us tag along. It was the best day ever there. He was kind enough to sign a phot he had and gave it to us to keep and we were in heaven. That day and the memory got me through a lot of days at the time. Adrian was an engaging guy and I still cannot believe he took the time to even bother with us.
As the years go by I can't help but think about what a class guy he was. How many of us on this board if we were college football players would have taken the time to go and do that for other people. There was not any media there. He was kind enough to be going to a game and decided to take a couple of kids out who had nothing in their lives.
Adrian was pure class and he was always my favorite. I will miss him.
