Santa Clara police are investigating allegations by Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton involving possible altercations Sunday. According to police, Newton stated that between the hours of 3:40pm and 7pm PST, he was assaulted multiple times during that time frame. Newton claims that as many as 11 individuals were involved in the assault against him, though Newton also noted that most of what happened during the time indicated, only two to four individuals seemed to be the main perpetrators. When asked if he could describe the assailants, Newton said he couldn't make out their faces but noticed they were all wearing white shirts and pants.
When pressed on why he couldn't describe the faces of his assailants, Newton stated that the assailants came at him more than two at a time and were running so fast it was if they were a blur to him. So far police have not apprehended any of the alleged assailants but say a few witnesses have come forward with information about the incident. Santa Clara Police are asking anyone with more information to contact them as soon as possible. Newton could not be reached for comment at the time this report was submitted.
