Inevitably there are going to be some people who will bring all kinds of alternate scenarios where we would have lost. I think this is nonsense. Regarding Freeman; yes, he is a great player and his absence no doubt had an effect on the game. We were missing our best deep threat receiver and Tommy was hobbled by cramps for most of the second half. Our best DT was nowhere near 100% either and DPE was rusty. If we tally up everyone who either didn't play the game, didn't complete the game, or wasn't at 100%, there's no telling which team was affected more. Secondly, Oregon not running out the clock to end the first half and going for two every time are being floated as reasons we won. That isn't who Oregon is, they've won a lot of games, including blowouts of ranked teams doing just what they did today. They attack and they constantly look to expand their lead, it's what they do. The fact that it didn't work against us shouldn't be seen as them screwing up, it should be seen as us rising to the occasion. Enjoy the win, everybody, the team earned it.

Good post...And might I add, even before the season started, had our top 4 inerior d-line players decide to leave and lost Foster on the O-line.... Happy for the team and coaches, they had more than their share of "gut-punches" last year, glad to see them come out on the plus side this time.

FANtastic and rational. And guess what the O players weren't tripping over land mines when they were unsuccessfully trying for TWO yard two point conversions. THAT WAS BLACKSHIRTS and our D-LINE !!! Think of that ; that was great defense. GBR

The gut punches were self inflicted. We should have won a minimum 10 games last year. It doesn't take a genius to know we had to run the ball last year but this staff continued to throw the ball with a QB that makes horrible choices routinely.

I'm glad they have chosen to run it more this year. We should be 7-0 heading into Wisconsin. I would like to see Riley call the plays. Langsdorf wants to throw it, too much for my liking, especially in the red zone.

Does Oregon win with Royce? Probably...but who cares...getting hurt is something that happens. The Skers took advantage of it like they should have.

it was very great to see this team come back from a couple touchdowns, too. I remember in the glory years when that recipe could spell doom for the option offense. ill enjoy this win.

I think it's an interesting question, and one I am not really in a position to answer since I've never seen Royce play. That said, though Royce has a tremendous reputation and would no doubt have picked up plenty of yards in the middle of our defense, I think the speed of the other backs on the edge killed us time and time again. I might have traded a few Royce runs for some of those...

Could Oregon have got that much more production out of the RB position with their starter? They still broke off a bunch of big runs and I don't think freeman is faster than that #5. Just saying I don't think their run game suffered a terrible lot.

Well stated. The what if and but people out there are not living in reality. But since they what to play this game let me play too. If Wilbon catches the lateral, which he should have, we score a TD and we get to 42 points And if Riley kicks the FG in the first half instead of going for a 4th and 8 and failing, we score 45 points. But we didn't, so we only win 35-32. A lot more if and buts in the game too.

There were wounded on both sides of the ball. Reilly wasn't playing and Zo Moore wasn't at 100%. Tommy was drinking pickle juice and getting IVs on the sideline. Two decent teams slugging it out and we came out on top.
