I am hearing from folks close to Minneapolis (Minn.) North 2021 DE Davon Townley that Nebraska has picked up its pursuit of the four-star in recent weeks. Right before the Early Signing Period it looked like Davon was going to go ahead and sign, likely with Arizona State, but the night before the early period opened he told me he would be waiting until February. Now it does not sound like Arizona State is a factor at all.
Penn State has long been a player here, and if I had to put a pick down today I'd go with the Nittany Lions, but it is certainly not a lock and I expect Davon to take this recruitment the whole way until February Signing Day. Sounds like Michigan State still has a shot as well, and while Minnesota remains involved I do not see him ending up there. I know Nebraska is tight with remaining scholarships for this 2021 class, but it at least sounds like they are exploring Davon as an option. If the room is there, he is easily one of the best DEs still unsigned in 2021. He was originally a basketball player and came to football late, but if he can put it together the tools are definitely there for Davon to play on Sundays.
