Was on last night. And watching that 85 Bears defense which was the greatest D of all time. (Pains me to say as a Packers fan,) but they were so dominant with Buddy Ryan and that 46 D. Sad to see Buddy Ryan and the shape he's in battling cancer, strokes etc. But back to the point, all of those hits, tackles, QB sacks were so violent and nasty, aka FOOTBALL most would be drawing 15 yard penalties, fines and suspensions today. They even asked most of the guys how much they would be fined in todays era and they just laughed. I'm all for protecting the players and that the NFL is terrified about concussions and CTE so I understand the helmet to helmet calls. But as we have all witnessed with the Gerry calls they are getting way too sensitive and overly protective nowadays aka the pussification of football continues. Was fun and sad watching how football was played just 30 years ago and how it is now.:( End of rant.

Although Jim McMahon today is a good argument for the changes in today's football. He's pretty messed up from all the concussions and injuries.

Yes, he's dealing with the problems of CTE. But as Steve McMichael said at the end. Even knowing now the possible consequences of playing pro football for 10 years they would still go back and do it all over again. It's all about risk vs reward and none of these guys would trade their experiences for anything.

It was a great watch. As I sat in my recliner with a beer, after having downed an oxycodone (sp?) from yet another surgery a few days ago and am unable to move around very well, for a brief second I felt like I identified with the old broken down players. Just for a second, I realize it's apples to oranges, but I did catch myself thinking "Is this what it's like a decade or two after they leave the game"? Sucked to see Buddy Ryan in that condition though, I was not aware of his plight. Dude had a sweet spread to, and Singletary and Fridge still rule.

Haven't watched it so I cannot comment on it yet, but I heard it was a great watch. Can't wait to view it either.

I love ESPN's 30 for 30s. They are very well done and inflict emotions on the audience. They really get you to feel something (I.E. Jimmy Valvano & NC State, The U, Christian Laettner, Boz & OU, etc). However, I'm sitting here wondering when ESPN will grow up and do a 30/30 on T.O. and the 1990 Huskers. I swear, if they do Saban & Alabama first I will personally go to Bristol and go on strike against ESPN.

Maybe it's not a 30/30 but I did see one called I think "2 for # 1" about the 1983 orange bowl. I don't remember the time left but in that game I always felt that even if we make the 2 point conversion that Miami still had time to get down the field and try a field goal to win.

Back to the bears and the hits, I thought I read there were more injuries this year than any year in the nfl history even with the protective rules. Problem is the players are just too big and fast anymore. My solution is weight limits by position similar to wrestling. Lineman 270 pounds, backers and d backs 220 pounds, etc. when you are getting hit by a 340 pound guy running a 5.0 40 you are going to get hurt.
