Hard to believe, since I usually equate football season with the end of summer... but thank God we have less than 60 days until real football so we can start to see some real discussion about football back on this board.
I, for one, am very nervous/excited for the BYU game. Excited to see what the next chapter of Husker football will look like, and nervous because this is a big boy team we are playing that has had success early in their recent seasons; Beat Texas 41-7 last year and 40-21 in 2013. They also played Wisconsin to a 10 point loss in 2013 when Wisconsin was ranked in the top 25.
I'm not sure anyone is looking past BYU, but this game sets up to be a huge statement game for the new Huskers. A big win (though unlikely) would set the stage for what could be a special season. A close win (more likely) would still go a long way to getting player and fan buy-in on the direction. A loss (hopefully it would at least be competitive) can hurt, especially with the Miami game looming. A big loss, can have some really negative impact.
I can say my excitement for this season is higher than maybe any in the past 5 years.
