There are several choices here, one pretty obvious but Im going for a tie with two not so obvious guys, Kerry Weinmaster and Will Compton.

All-time best, I would agree with Tingelhoff. Modern era I would say Bo Ruud and Richie Incognito. Some others I want to mention were Jim Branch, a really good LB from the end of Devaney era and Dan Schmidt, an OG from Osborne's early years.

Will Compton was a baller. And even though he had issues, Richie Incognito was a force and the first freshman to start on the offensive line in decades at the time.

Honorable mention to Bo Ruud. That 2007 season would have been even more of a disaster without his INT returns for TDs against Ball State and Iowa State.

Looks like Lydon Murtha also started as a freshman in the 8th game of the 2005 season vs. Oklahoma.
