41 days: Best #41 in Husker history

LB Marc Munford

Honorable Mention...

MIKE Phil Ellis: Heard there were some great collisions between him and Cory Schlesinger both in high school (GI vs. Columbus) and in practice at NU.

FB and Orthopedic Doctor Dane Todd: Academic All-American.

LB David Santos: Was having a strong career before a knee injury.

FB/TE Luke McNitt: Lunchpail player, he and Janovich used to smash their heads against each other to get ready for games. Somehow still managed Academic All-Big Ten in 2015 and 2016 despite that ritual.

WILL Jared Franzluebbers: All-Name Team Candidate.

Munford, Ellis and Todd were the first names I thought of. Kim Baker was also a pretty good LB in the late '70s.

Played against Baker in high school. He as a middle linebacker and I played RB/FB. He as huge. He was clearly on Eppley's vitamin program in high school. Me not so much. I think he was an all Big 8 backer for NU.

I’ll say Phil ellis first, two national championships over a close munford, to no fault of him but knee injuries hampered him in his senior season
