2017 Nebraska Cornhuskers Recruiting Class Overview
by Pete Fiutak, CollegeFootballNews.com

It's fine, but is it the gamechanger the program really needs? Not really. There were some key gets for some important spots, landing QB Tristan Gebbia out of California, and WR Tyjon Lindsey out of Las Vegas are part of, potentially, the best class yet under Mike Riley by far. There's not too much help for the defensive line, but the offensive front was loaded with options and DE Guy Thomas might be a major player once he bulks up -- or if he gets moved to outside linebacker.

The Nebraska Class is Heavy On........
....wide receivers. The Huskers are bringing in more offensive linemen than anywhere else, but the key players are in the receiving corps, starting with Lindsey -- a smallish blazer -- and helped by 6-2, 185 pound Jaevon McQuitty, a talented big target taken away from Missouri. The biggest name in terms of national attention is, of course, Keyshawn Johnson. He might not be anywhere near the talent his dad was, but the 6-1, 195-pounder could shine -- and he'll get the damn ball -- playing with his high school quarterback, Gebbia.

The Star of the Nebraska Class is......
....WR Tyjon Lindsey, 5-8, 165, Las Vegas, NV -- A devastating home run hitter no matter how he gets the ball, he could be used in the backfield, as a slot receiver, or as a kick returner, with dangerous speed, quickness and athleticism. Get him into the open field, and forget about it. He might not be that tall, but how big a recruit is he? Alabama, Ohio State and Washington were right there in the fight.

The Biggest Depth Chart Hole is.....
....Linebacker. It's not a desperate problem, and it's not going to receive the focus this spring like the quarterback situation will, but the Huskers need to work on the linebacking corps. That was okay last season, but not sensational. Losing safety Nathan Gerry hurts -- he was the second-leading tackler, while the team leader Josh Banderas and Michael Rose-Ivey combined for 163 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss.
