2 Big DL, LB and CB visiting this week

I don't look at LB as a major need, but this kid is exactly the type of player we need to be looking at regardless of position. The problem is that the competition will be hot and heavy for him.
He played in the game that got Frost fired. Losing at home to Georgia Southern. Pack your bags, Scotty!!

Davies and Gordon are new names. Davies was a four star CB out of HS, signed with Oregon but transferred to UCLA after one season. Had 3 INTs his first year playing for UCLA. Has one year left.
Gordon is a safety for Baylor, looks like he has two years left to play. Had 3 INTs this past season.
Sign them up, IMO

The problem with these high-end kids who have one year left is that they may not be around if Nebraska makes it to post season play leaving Nebraska holding the bag, so to speak. I'm leery of kids who are on their third school, it's like buying a car that had two previous owners, something may be wrong with the car that wasn't talked about.

I agree with what you are saying. The problem is we have to get used to buying used cars in the day and age of NIL.

Or maybe looking at it like picking up a rescue at the pound. It may be a great fit, or he may end up pissing all over your house.

If it's the playoffs. They won't leave.

Since they're likely getting a NIL offer and I assume signing some sort of contract why not specify in the contract that they will get a certain bonus but only if they play through the bowl/playoff games.

I'm guessing the staff isn't looking for knock it out of the park bank breaking guys. I think they are more value long term shoppers. Guys that will compliment what we have . The type that will be appreciative of a nice paycheck rather than bidding war.

So in the game against us he recorded 5 tackles including half a sack. But I don’t remember the name specifically. Anyone remember if he was being talked up during the broadcast at all?
Should be able to look it up

Structure their NIL so that's not possible. Shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

It's always a crapshoot with any of these kids. There are no guarantees. Get em when you can and get the most out of then while you have them because next year is NEVER guaranteed. The coaches that can do that and adjust quickly will be the ones who benefit the most from this portal stuff.

Getting one great season out of a player is worth potentially not having them for the post-season. Every school deals with opt-outs now. Some of these players are the difference between that gets us there.

One advantage NU has with Rhule is that next year IS guaranteed. I think college football is more like the NFL now with NIL and one thing that has held true over the last 30 years in the NFL is the franchises with GMs on the hot seat always take a win now desperation approach. Burn the boats. Sell off tomorrow to win today. Sign that injury plagued vet who has one year left. The franchises with stability (Steelers, Ravens, et al) always consider the long term. Rhule's had that luxury and he seems to be staying with that approach. None of our transfer additions seem to be high risk at this point.

I completely agree. As much as I hate players opting out post season, I’ll be more than happy if having them means a couple more wins.

Sign him up. Last I heard the Donald kid wasn't coming.
Is that Holgorsen or Ernie McCracken in the white vest?
