There are 128 FBS football programs. That is really bad when you finish 50 spots worse than the number of teams available. Im guessing you read the article wrong. That may have been for all D-I schools which include FBS and FCS.

No...Riley stated he wanted Top 3 in the Big 10. I believe he stated that during spring practice.

"But few goals were stated more explicitly than his desire to run the ball better — and finish as a top-three rushing team in the Big Ten — and better defend against the pass."

I was talking about Riley. I imagine they are combining all divisions of football together there – so no worries. Regardless of the information, they missed their B1G goal B1G time.
