How does college athletics look in 2 to 5 years?

At this point, I think I would support congress repealing the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 and allowing the NFL to play televised games on Saturdays during the college football season - if college football wants to be super-greedy and big business, then maybe it should be treated like a true...

Trev Alberts vote of confidence for HC

The $80 million is Jimbo Fisher's buyout.

Coach Rhule really going out in a limb

The one thing about Riley was you knew that if he was a bust, at least it would be cheap - his buyout was $6.2 million after getting fired after three seasons. IF we have to fire Rhule after three years, the buyout is going to be a lot more painful than that.

    Jimbo gone. 75 million buyout!!

The Jimbo Fisher hire always seemed questionable to me - Jimbo clearly peaked at Florida State in 2013 - and he was definitely burned-out his last season at Florida State when they went 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Just a reminder that Matt Rhule was…

I agree. I'm not going to fall for some "Emperor Has No Clothes" con like Frost boosters tried to sell for 4+ years - "He's building something really special - you just can't see it yet". Basically, I hope to see some tangible signs of progress in year two.

$12 tickets - take your kids to the game!

Agreed - although consistently super-low prices on the re-sale market should be a somewhat worrying sign to an Athletic Director - a sign that the days of selling out season tickets at full face amount (plus a donation) might be numbered.

    Why did Rhule pick Sims?

My own impression of the Rhule negotiations was that Nebraska tipped its hand too obviously that they were locking 100% in on Rhule, and Rhule's agent did what any good agent would do in that situation - grabbed Nebraska by the balls and squeezed until it hurt. I'm pretty certain we had no...

    NU vs. Scum prediction thread

Colorado 35 Nebraska 14 (will be happy to eat crow if I'm wrong)

Just going to throw this out there.

3 would really suck - that would basically be beating the two payday opponents (Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech) and probably Northwestern.

    Anyone still drinking the Rhuleaid?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as I was the day the hire was announced - wait and see. Hope I'm wrong, but this season's pretty much looking like a write off (Minnesota is terrible) - the next two recruiting cycles will tell the tale of Rhule's tenure here.

    This team is cursed

Agreed - "Cursed" is just a cop-out ne'er do wells tell themselves to disclaim any responsibility for their failures - "Sh*t keeps raining down on me and I don't know why".

    Honest thoughts

We're paying Rhule $9 million/year. For that kind of money, there had better be a significant talent infusion on the roster within the first three seasons.

    OT-Favorite NFL Team

Chiefs fan since birth due to my father. Never thought I'd see a dynasty run like they are enjoying now.

OT: Is Budweiser really losing money?

Cheap beer has its purposes. There's been many a hot day when I'm doing all day yard work, where I easily downed six cans of ice-cold cheap beer throughout the day.

OT: Is Budweiser really losing money?

No, they fired her and the male marketing executive who hired her (the latter was actually well thought of within the company) - for a long time, the official line was that they were "on leave", but it was eventually unofficially confirmed by insiders that they were gone.

Sounds like Oregon & Washington to B1G is just about done.

If I wasn't a native Nebraskan and a born Husker fan, it would be so damn easy to just check out from college football right now and watch the NFL only. Outside of Nebraska football, my interest in college football has never been lower - for example, I used to really care who won the Heisman...

Big 10 still growing. Just divide the country into 2 Mega conferences already

Well, I never believed USC and UCLA ditched the PAC 12 for the Big 10 without some assurances that they wouldn't be isolated on the West Coast - I figured Washington and Oregon would be getting invites. But Cal and Stanford too? If this is true, USC and UCLA really aren't giving up much - the...

Who will the little 12 add next?

"WE?" - in case you don't know, we've been a member of the Big 10 since 2011; Northwestern's been a member since 1896. If they start kicking schools out, we'll be out on our ass long before they are.

    CU to the big12

Yeah, I went down to Lawrence many times - an entire wing of my family lives there and in the surrounding area. I always thought Lawrence was a great college town.
