    I thought of one 'potential' way to torpedo this UT/OU deal...What happens if the expanded playoff is nixed and it stays at four for the foreseeable future? Then, making the playoffs through the Big12 is much, much easier than going through the SEC and it might make OU rethink.

    What's so great about it? Academics?? Nobody confuses Northwestern with Nebraska. TV payouts? An enhanced B12 will get you just about as much $ as the B10 after the next round of negotiations. Why would you want to be remain in a conference where you are an afterthought in the crappy division...

    Networks are overrated. P12 doesn't have a network (technically it does, but it is a worthless shitshow.) Arkansas won't come back. UA and ASU probably won't. Maybe a package of CU and CSU would work. Maybe Mizzou.

    Independents are probably only a few teams away from gaining critical mass, which will ease the scheduling concerns. USC is rumored to be looking into it. And TX can't be that far behind. West Virginia might as well be an independent. I am sure that there are a couple of other schools out there...
