    OT Retirement

My brothers made fun of me for years for sticking with the USG. Sure they make more than me, but it was just recently my youngest brother finally admitted that the pension I get will be pretty nice and even though he has a good bit of money he’s going to have to use it wisely to match what I’ll...

Seems like we could have fixed this up years ago. But I think even your South Dakota gov noem waited until it was a problem before anything came up in legislation.

    OT Retirement

You aren’t talking about what the numbers are, but what the numbers would be if people had your priorities. Because there’s a cap, high earners skew the numbers less than they would but the numbers are still skewed. Not many poor people are putting in 23k when median income before tax is like...

    OT Retirement

A lot of people look at Trump as this big hard right super conservative guy but he’s actually not. He’s done more to move the GOP leftward than any politician on either side of the aisle in basically a century. Ever since the new deal was launched in the thirties it has been a primary leg of...

    OT Retirement

It’s tough to blame anyone in a market transaction. If I want your farm and I have the ability to give you ten million for it (and perhaps I have to to beat the other bidders), I’m not generally concerned with the fact that puts the new price per acre far above what a young farmer could pay.

    OT Retirement

If rural america wants to live they can’t sell. The parents either need money to make retirement better or even feasible and the kids often want to leave or have already left and don’t need a multi million dollar farm. A few decades of that and it’s pretty easy to see why rural America is a...

I also wanted to point out I agree with the folks about health insurance. My mom works with a bunch of docs at UNMC and they don’t generally fully retire until their 70s so they can keep their coverage. Those docs have more money at least salary wise than 90% of people.

I’m only 42 but my wife and were talking about this the other day. I have a cush computer job and can do basically whatever I want so it’s like do I really need to stop when I’m 57 to golf or travel? I probably won’t. I might as well keep making a good salary to work a couple days a week and...

    OT: Detroit style pizza

I find Omaha's pizza scene to be a little weird. Most are pretty good home made pizza places but none are particularly authentic to a style. I'm told you can get a pretty good authentic Chicago style pizza out in NW omaha now, somewhere abouts 144th and Fort? There was a place about 15 years...

They should eliminate the hosting of playoff games by bowl games

I would stop thinking of them as bowls. They are basically the premier destinations for post season for anyone under say 45. The Rose Bowl as my dad saw it (now 67) isn't how I (at 41) would see it.

They should eliminate the hosting of playoff games by bowl games

The NFL is going to be looking at its cold game playoff policy as it is. I can easily seeing CFB avoiding basically all of it by making post season destination sites across the South or in Domes and not worrying about the years when its -35 @ OSU. CFB via the bowl system has the advantage of a...

No way!! Raiola N? OV this weekend

Does McCord and raiola know that according to Kong HH has this qb position on lockdown for a couple more years?

    An expanded playoff fixes this

If I remember correctly Cardale beat a top ten Wisconsin team in an absolute beat down (48-0 or something like that?) in the B10 championship. Clearly that’s quite a different impression than what FSU showed the other night. Especially considering at that time Wisconsin routinely had some of...

    An expanded playoff fixes this

It depends on what you mean by fix. The main charge of the committee is to put N teams into the playoffs that are the best N teams that have a shot at a national title. Right now that number is four, and while people are upset that some criteria was dismissed for another one, people generally...

    An expanded playoff fixes this

There’s literally a clause that addresses this situation. At the time people were supporting it because everyone thought those damn selfish millenials would sit out en masse and not hurt their draft positions, and no one wanted to watch OSU play Bama when all the good players were in street clothes.

    An expanded playoff fixes this

Brook played a good chunk (most? It’s been a long time) of that season. The Huskers were a known quantity at any theoretical selection time. While the FSU QBs comment about being injured earlier was sort of in jest, it absolutely would have helped FSUs cause if they had demonstrated they...

    SEC homerism

I actually didn’t mind the old system where a bunch of people put their thumb up in the air, close one eye and said “uhhhhh those two”. I also didn’t mind when people started calling for formalizing standards and playoffs and all that. However folks didn’t understand what they were asking for...

    SEC homerism

I mean the hardest fact that we have about this whole situation is there is a specific line item in the selection process that deals with the situation FSU finds it in. Sure FSU is going to get their 2nd string qb back, but if you delve at all into the numbers in football you know that it’s...
