Pollard, along w our major sport head coaches, took a sizable pay cut during the Covid. Neither he or Campbell have agents. No way he’d use rumors to get a pay raise like the Hawkeye FB coach has.
Fred had a great run at Iowa State that included Back to Back Big 12 Tourney Championships. He was 46-26 in conference his last 4 years after a rough 3-13 first year where he was left w 4 scholarship players.
True, he had zero luck in the NCAAs. The Sweet 16 year, Niang broke a bone in his...
I never felt a lot of animosity as a Cyclone living in Omaha when we were in the same conference. Admittedly, we didn’t win often in football, so we weren’t considered a rival. I had OU friends at the Western Electric plant that would wear their regalia on the Friday before a game. I always...
At this point of his tenure, we could say the same for Matt Campbell at Iowa State. Patience is a virtue. He’s already proven he knows how to coach when he has player. BTW, keep him out of Iowa recruiting. That I have no patience for!
We’re happy with coach Prohm. There will be some who are mad (100% were bummed) at him for leaving, but most are happy for his contribution as a player and coach and wish him the best wherever it is. I don’t think he’d ever coach at KU or UT out of respect for ISU.
He was at ISU 5 years. First year we had four scholarship players left from McDermott’s regime....thanks to Creighton for hiring Greg away. Fred kept and picked up some recruits and transfers and was 15-15 that first year. We had 5 or 6 games (one at NU) that year that were last possession...
I think he’s implying that he’ll jump back to the NBA. I thought he’d be at ISU until retirement, so I won’t make any bets on longevity. I will bet he puts NU on the basketball map. He’s proven he can turn a program around quickly.
The hypocrisy of hawk fans is comical. Remember this guy?

Fred gave some kids who had made stupid mistakes second chances. None of them were bad young men or bad teammates.
If he goes to NU, they will immediately be regular NCAA participants, the...
I'm glad you weren't on the selection committee when Tom Osborne, Bill Snyder, Barry Alvarez, or Fred Hoiberg. Dan Gable is a different story. Maybe he would have come back home if not given a chance at Iowa as an unproven coach.
