Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

It's not complaining. It's an observation. I posted in the thread because I read Barf's column this morning and I thought it was a lazy, dumb article. He postulated that a majority of Nebraska fans would prefer NU still remained in the Big XII -- mostly so that fans could retain historical...

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

Who's complaining? Shawn Eichorst said when he fired Pelini that he made the decision based on (his words) -- the games that matter. So we should all look forward to Mike Riley winning those games that matter. Did Eichorst say which ones those were? The games that matter?

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

What other schools in the last fifteen years have fired coaches who won 70% of their games? Can you name them? And no, Joe Paterno doesn't count.

Agree. Especially if your job (as a malcontent) is maintaining subscribers to a dying media form. You'll say all sorts of crazy shit to keep them entertained. <---- (hence the screen name)

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

Yeah, I was there too. The Fox production truck did their best to help Jim Delany hide all the empty seats. But you say you wish you hadn't gone? I'm not surprised. NU has become a fan base that only supports the team when they're winning or when it's convenient. But maybe it's always...

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

I support NU. Barfy suggests that if Nebraska fans were allowed to vote, they would choose to return to the Big XII. That must mean he thinks the majority of Husker fans are really dumb. You know, he's probably right. A majority of Husker fans probably believe that you can keep firing...

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

Barfy cites that NU fans miss road trips to KU, K-State, Iowa State and Mizzou. I guess he just forgot that Missouri is now in the SEC. Kansas State fans regularly fill their stadium without the help of Big Red. But that wouldn't allow how to make himself the focus of the article -- how he...

Article on why NU is staying in Big 10....

Dumb column. Was NU ever considering leaving? The OU president knows there aren't any worthwhile candidates for Big XII expansion; instead, he's setting the stage for OU to look for greener (pun intended) pa$ture$.

The most frusting thing about our program

Here's a quick comparison of Banker's tenure at Oregon State (2003-14) to Nebraska defenses during the same time period. Courtesy of http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs FBS rankings in scoring defense: 2003-14 2014: Nebraska (59), Oregon State (96) 2013: Nebraska (50), Oregon State (90)...

    "What If?" Dead time conversation.

Agree. But that would have been good enough in 2004 to win the North division and a second meeting with Oklahoma in a three-week span. Does anyone think in 2004 Pedeyshine and "the greatest fans in college football" could stomach just eight wins with two losses to Oklahoma/Bob Stoops in the...

    Mike Riley and Wisconsin

Are you implying that there might be some sort of Trojan horse scenario? Why would anyone think Alvarez would have interest in creating any kind of instability at another established football program in his division? I'm sure he just wants what's best for NU. We know Barry Alvarez only had...

As I watch Oregon St. hold 19th ranked UCLA's Jonathan Franklin....

I picked this game because 69 points was the most Washington had scored against any opponent since 1944. 530 yards rushing against an opponent was the second most in UW's entire school history. Seriously, after a blowout like that, I'm astonished that Oregon State allowed Mike Riley to return...

Blowouts happen to everyone. I posted the entire box score to illustrate that Washington was leading 62-6 in Corvallis early in the fourth quarter -- with 530 rushing yards and almost 700 total offense -- before they pulled off the dogs. Pun intended.

    "What If?" Dead time conversation.

Here's the 2004 schedule -- Colorado and Iowa State tied for the Big XII North with a 4-4 record. I'd like to think Solich could have done better than Callahan with players that had been recruited for Solich's offense. Southern Miss, in particular, was a game lost because Callahan refused to...

An interesting story I heard last fall from a former recruit.

When your name lends itself to a nickname like Drug DuNose you might say association with the activity was inevitable.
