Does anyone really believe that Rhule is going to be OK redhirting a multi-million dollar top ranked QB even if he is a freshman?
I suppose Purdy could light the college world on fire and keep Raiola benched but you know full well that the first loss, especially an early loss, and the pressure...
If Raiola signs as expected (and stays healthy), there will be no real QB competition and everybody knows that. Kaelin isn't getting the start over Raiola, that's just the reality of the situation. Can't blame him for exploring other options.
HH is valuable as a 3rd or 4th option at QB, multiple QB injury insurance. Otherwise, he is mainly as a gimmick player - wildcat, WR/TE reverse, etc..... a couple plays per game then back to the clipboard.
I'm not buying the tale that a major college football coach polled the team to determine who they preferred as starting QB. Then again, I would never have believed accepting a bowl invitation would be determined by team vote.
Its almost certainly off-season conditioning only if he is indeed in the wrestling room. Too much cut in order to compete, not impossible but would need alot more runway to get there.
Wrestlers reaching Rd 4 at each weight attain AA. If he got back into wrestling shape he would be a force at HWT, easily Top8 HWT/AA. Disclaimer: there are always upsets in the early rounds.
I watched several of Nash's high school wrestling matches - he simply overwhelmed his opponents with his mass and power. If he got back to wrestling shape I think he could be very competitive... not a title contender but definitely All-American right out of the gate.
I suppose a coach could forego recruiting high school prospects and instead make wholesale changes to the roster every year via the transfer portal. I suppose that coach would be a Deion Sanders protege, only worse, and you would have a never ending bloody mess.
This keeps getting weirder. Herbstreit and Gameday did not chose the CFB playoff teams lol.
Your claim that people are "walking away" from college football is refuted by the record viewership numbers. Florida State will field a team next year and their home games will be sold out. No one is...
I don't know where you get your information but viewership is at an all-time high and steadily increasing. If people are walking away, they are being replaced by a greater number of viewers.
How many fans would be interested in watching Nebraska play Vanderbilt in an early October losers bracket contest.... the winner facing Bowling Green who gained home field advantage by virtue of their upset over Minnesota?
If you are the type of player with no chance of being drafted and you currently have zero NIL income, the transfer portal is a huge risk.
Your description is the profile of a player without high end (six figure) value. The risk is electing to enter the portal and receiving interest from lower...
Its a crap shoot. Many factors beyond stats to consider, not the least of which is chararcter and leadership abilities. The right "fit" is probably the biggest factor beyond talent.
